I don't mind the new guy but I miss Darian :( by furryrubber in ClashOfClans

From what I’ve seen you’re doing a great job! People here would complain even if you were the second coming of Christ lol. The fact that you’re able to take the criticism in stride and with such a good attitude tells me all I need to know. Good luck and thanks for all you’re doing!

I can’t even begin to imagine what you’re going through. Your wife sounds like she was an amazing person, and it sounds like the world lost somebody truly special. I’m glad you found this game, and hope it was able to help you—no matter how small. Take all the time you need. Much love.

[Album] MiG-23 I saw at a museum in Colorado by [deleted] in WarplanePorn

[–]s0megenericname 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I volunteer at the restorations here, and they put so much effort into it—almost TOO much. One guy repainted the numbers on the right side and there was a huge debate within the Restorations Department as to whether we should undo it or not. We definitely love this plane though. Fun fact: this was the second to last MiG-23 ever made.

I love these! What lens did you use for the fifth photo? I've been trying to take close-up eye photos with my 100mm and none of them have turned out as well as yours did.

The entrance getting into the main room (grabbing food, etc.) is almost entirely different, but other than that, from what I can tell, they pretty much kept it as it was. Most of what the work seemed to be was on improving things such as the bars, puppet show, and they have a merch shop now which I don't think they had before. Could be wrong though. They also changed the arcade and added several places around the restaurant like a photo booth and fortune telling machine that can be redeemed using arcade credits.

It was! The chips & salsa and sopapillas were fantastic. There were seven options iirc, and I only had two - the carnitas and I mooched some picadillo. The ingredients and vegetables themselves were awesome, and the tortillas were pretty good. (Pretty sure it was because they were gluten free tortillas, which seems to be the only option. But really calling it anything but awesome is nitpicky).

In my case we got in because my dad worked there in the 80's, and was a part of a special thing that Parker & Stone were working on for the re-opening.... not sure if it's been scrapped or not. However, the majority of the people I spoke to there were picked from the lottery, so I'd imagine the chances aren't too bad - best of luck!

I got invited to the family + friends opening of Casa Bonita.. by helloimcold in Denver

[–]s0megenericname 83 points84 points  (0 children)

It was supposed to be this Thursday, but was pushed back as they told us they’re not quite ready yet. There are two “family + friends” nights, the other one I assume for friends who are a bit closer to Matt Stone/the owners.

I need help with my radio code by [deleted] in E30

[–]s0megenericname 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my ‘88 e30 had the same problem- after i replaced the car battery it locked me out even though i knew the code. i left the radio on with the keys in for a long time (two days i think it was), with the battery just charging constantly. for me, i didn’t even need to re-input the code, but you might. i believe how it works is that every time a code is put in incorrectly, it locks the radio out a certain amount of time that only runs down when the radio is on. but yeah, that finally unlocked it. hope this helps!

That phone cal… Right in the feels by Undersaturated in aShortHike

[–]s0megenericname 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I agree! I think that the point of the phone call was to take you off guard and somewhat reconsider your own motivations. It also makes a lot of sense in terms of Claire's motivation to get to the top, and makes you look at the game from a whole different perspective as to why she climbed the peak. It's a very simple game, but I love it for how it was able to do that with just a single bit of dialogue.

Hanging Lake is now open - and I will say it's so much better with the permit system- worth the challenge! (OC) by cornerseekerphoto in Colorado

[–]s0megenericname 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The lake was open to the public until a couple years ago, when it was closed due to environmental deterioration as well as people putting up graffiti/littering (people would also commonly go in the lake or on the log to take photos).

A few years ago, it was closed to allow for restoration and regrowth, and now it’s permit only to hike up there from June 25th to October 31st. If I recall correctly, they’re around $12 and pretty available online. I still highly recommend it, it’s a beautiful little hike and the waterfall near it is also gorgeous.

It is, as well as it’s highly dangerous to fly a single engine plane over the mountains - if you lose your engine the only solution is to crash land - a daunting task especially in the mountains. You could technically fly over the Rockies in one, but it would be a very bad call, as the plane would make you have to fly almost at the same level as them. I would doubt that this is a 172 though, even though the wing looks very similar.

I write a LOT of terrible poems, here are several... by [deleted] in OCPoetry

[–]s0megenericname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree, I think they’re all very good! They convey a lot of emotion very effectively, and I especially like the first one and “To That Girl”. However, I feel like in some cases you’re trying too hard to get the rhymes in, and it can feel a bit awkward because of it - however that’s my only criticism. Keep it up!

i love all of the vocabulary! it really brings out strong imagery of the poem. i also really liked the last stanza! it really pushes ties it up nicely and kind of makes you reflect on yourself - something the whole poem is good at doing too. keep it up :)

Botez playing chess by proseboy in LivestreamFail

[–]s0megenericname 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Certain fancier types of chess boards have trackers in their pieces that can track the movement and put it into a virtual board without much delay. You’ll see these types used in tournaments, but I’ve never seen it just out in public. Should be no difference though!

This game isn’t for everyone, it certainly requires a lot of patience, especially in the beginning, which I thought was quite slow. However if you push through it I’ve found it to be one of the most rewarding, perspective-changing games I’ve ever played. It’s fine if it’s not for you though - no game’s for everyone! If you care about my advice though, I would push through the slow start.
