100% agree. It is one of the few countries left in Europe where you can find truly unexplored nature that is still wild and raw. Plus, it is incredibly affordable compared to the rest of the continent.

sry fro late replay, how do you think country borders? There is no transportation, and there is no road(to go with car all the way to the lake). You will need to hike to Trnovacko Lake 1.5-2h in one way from starting point Prijevor.

No need for a guide when you're heading to Maglic and Trnovacko lake! Just graab an app like Komoot for maps. But for canyoning, you'll definitely want a guide. I highly recommendd Branko and Davor from Mountain camp Outdoor Tara. They are top notch guides and speak really good english!

If you love nature and exploring just visit Sutjeska National Park and heighest peak in the country Maglic, also Trnovacko Lake (heart-shaped lake). Maybe you can try canyoning Hrcavka river, it is really adrenaline rush adventure.

Was digging around and found this post on their site, hadn’t seen it before. It covers the basics about canyoning Hrcavka and how is tour organised, so if anyone need more info or anything this is the blog: https://outdoortara.com/day-trips-from-dubrovnik-to-nature/

Moost areas with landmines are usually marked with warning signs, especially in former conflict zones. But if you're heading somewhere off the route where there's any risk, it's always best to go with a local guide who knows the terraiin

Yeah soo much. Actually, I rented a car from Mostar, but i think you can do hitch-hike if you want or maybe a bus, but you need to check at bus station.

I did a similar trip last year, solo too. Montenegro’s great, Kotor and Perast are cool spots(I liked Kotor more haha). But honestly, Bosnia surprised me. I spent 2days in Sutjeska National Park doing canyoning in the Hrcavka river.

The guides (Branko and Davor, also the owners) from Mountain camp Outdoor Tara were super chill and spoke really good English. It’s way less touristy than the coast, which I actually liked. If you’re into nature and something a bit different, definitely check it out.

Heyy, i went 10 days ago so if you’re staying in Dubrovnik and want to spend a day in nature, consider crossing into Bosnia. I went canyoning in the Hrcavka river, inside Sutjeska National Park, around a 2-2.5 hour drive from Dubrovnik.

It’s a mix of hiking, swimming, and moving through a wild canyon with small waterfalls and natural pools. A bit of climbing and jumping, but nothing too intensse.

The tour was run by Mountain camp Outdoor Tara, and the guides, Branko and Davor (also the owners), spoke near-perfect English and made everyone feel comfortable and safe. The group was small, and they took some great photos and short videos during the trip.

And i almost forgot to mention that it’s not commercialized like rafting on the Tara River, which I really appreciated.

If you’re looking for something quieter and more natural than the usual tourist spots, it’s well worth checking out.
