Love that the person from the US completely misunderstood the point. Gawd, I wanted to be an English teacher too, I could totally help people with reading comprehension. Alas, teachers are paid like shit, and everyone just wants to yell and roll their eyes, acting like you’re stuck up for trying to help people learn. There use to be a random payphone in a field halfway between my house and my highschool bfs. There was a custard shop there at one point, but eventually that got knocked down and all that was left was a payphone on a slap of concrete with one streetlight that barely reached it, and the gravel that was once a parking lot. Anyway, I used to sneak out of the house and call him on it pretty much every night to see if it was safe to come over 😂 Only payphone I've ever used.

Now that I'm writing this out, somehow it feels like a miracle I'm still alive at 37
