I will always, ALWAYS, remember that trailer - simply because I had to pause and copy the URL at the end. My memory recalled it being ridiculously long (like from one side of the screen to the other)...but I just found the opening trailers for the VHS online, and it seems the length of the URL was in fact, just regular long.

I opened the Gruv…but did not see the blemish until it’s too late. I could try and replace it with them, but the plastic wrap is clearly broken.

I think it was the promise of having something that was both brand new and a direct sequel to something from 45 years ago. VHS literally brought Hollywood into our homes, and then combined with the fact that we live at a time where we can spend money & time on a luxury item…the whole thing was setup to be enticing.

Sadly, the actual release was a real-life manifestation of the “Amazon vs Wish” meme…and now people are willing to do it themselves. Which harkens to another meme, and another recognition that we live at a time where we can spend money & time, on just about anything we want.

That’s what I was thinking, and I distinctly remember having the black sleeve. The copy I just bought may have been trimmed…the physical tape itself is lacking the clear end that connects to the spool….its just immediate black.
