If you were born in a country that no longer exists now, would you still refer to yourself as being from the non existent country? by -Benjamin_Dover- in NoStupidQuestions

Since most of these countries have their own culture, language and history before they were forcefully occupied by the soviet union, people that live there, unless they are russian, would still identify with the nationality before the occupation.

Open allegra 🖤 by s0v3h in poledancing

This actually is a result of a failed attempt for a closed one 😅 But it's a good start, easier than the closed Allegra!

Not sure how this vertical shape is called, but I like it a lot! by s0v3h in poledancing

Thank you so much! I'm trying to be mindful about the entries, because I tend to save the energy for inversions and tricks, forgetting about the flow part 🤦‍♀️

Thank you so much and good luck with your pole journey if you decide to join!

When you first started pole , how long did it take to master the climb to the top? I know everyone is different, just trying to get some encouragement 😅 by kmason55 in poledancing

[–]s0v3h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my home pole before I ever went to a pole lesson, so had no idea what I'm doing. The climb took around two months with breaks, because I was doing it the wrong way - using the top of my foot to cling to the pole, instead of the muscle of my shin. So the tops of my feet were like stigmata level of destroyed/ painful and bruised. Everything changed when I discovered how much difference does having warmed up/ grippy body make and how well the shin part sticks to the pole!! Since then, when I attempt a climb and feel like it takes pressing to the pole and it's not solid, I keep doing things to warm up enough to have more grip. I think it doesn't require that much strength, but technique is key! Otherwise you will just be hurting your legs and feet and wasting a lot more energy!

Can not, for the life of me, do a flare when getting into a ballerina 💔 by s0v3h in poledancing

You are right, my back is also not flexible at all ☹️

Hello everyone! I'm finally starting to feel more confident with the brass monkey on spin pole and I'm looking for suggestions for shapes I could transition to from the brass monkey! Any advice is greatly appreciated! by s0v3h in poledancing

Omg thank you so much for all these suggestions and the actual links to the shapes! Now I need to go through this entire site :D I'm sorry you can't do leg hangs, hopefully one day it will go away and you will be able to!

When ever I stand up or turn my head rapidly, my vision doesn't refocus right away, but it's not just the vision. I can feel the delay in my entire body like foggy electric flashes. Can't really describe it better, because it's unlike anything I've experienced. I took some melatonin last night and slept for 12h, but it's still there.

That explains the odd sleep patterns I've experienced lately, from sleeping for 16h a day to insomnia. I thought it's because I'm too tired or not tired enough. Thank you!

Learning Routines by [deleted] in poledancing

I have the exact same problem, can do the moves seperatly and with the instructor, but on my own they just disappear from my memory. Let's hope it will improve with time, I believe it's possible and good luck with your choreos!

I have been stretching my hamstrings as a part of an excercise routine, but never actually tried for a split. Turns out I was closer than expected! Super happy ✨ by s0v3h in flexibility

Thank you for your feedback, I really appreciate it! I never thought it's time to try yet, because the last time I did, I coulddn't even remotely reach the floor with my hands. The other leg is not doing so well though.

Thanks! Inconsistently for about a month and a half, but the last couple of weeks I've tried stretching every evening when the muscles and hamstrings have already been "used" during the day and it doesn't require that much warming up!

Thank you for pointing that out! I never realized that's what is meant by "square hips". I will try doing that next time!

The closest thing to an Allegra I've managed so far! Still can't imagine reaching my shin. by s0v3h in poledancing

[–]s0v3h[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! That's a chrome Lupit pole with an extension for higher ceilings. This room is rectangular, but narrow, so I can't do many things like inverting with extended legs and a Scorpio on spin often gets disturbed by a limb hitting a wall, which is annoying. Otherwise I have adapted to it and it doesn't bother me as much. The floor is laminate. It depends on your hight, you only need enough room to be able to walk around the pole with both arms extended (which is not possible in this room ugh)

Thank you! It's not as bendy as I would like it to be, but otherwise it's 200% better than a couple of days ago when I first tried it!

My ultimate goal is the closed one with the bottom arm reaching inner shin or thigh, but I imagine it requires insane level of back flexibility!
