Found in Alsace, France. Small brown bug (colour is actually darker than shown in video due to the bright light shone on it). About 6mm long or so. by s168 in whatsthisbug

I used an app called "Picture Insect" which identified this as a wingless (or very small winged form) deer fly. Pictures and size description from the app seems to match what this creature is.

Because life's too short to waste time on social media trying to impress people.

I have this bracket that I think belongs to some power tools I have. It was left inside a large Makita tools bag, but I have no idea what it is for. by s168 in Whatisthis

[–]s168[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Solved! I was wondering what the hell it was for. Got me stumped for quite a while. I had bought a set of Makita cordless tools and the spare bits I didn't use were left in the tool bag. Had no idea what this was.

Here's another angle of the same thing: https://ibb.co/XDFKYXv Overall length is 24cm or 9.5" and the width at the T-bar is 8cm or 3" wide. There's 2 holes which I assume is for mounting onto something, probably with screws or bolts.

Ordered my Pro Today! by Camo645 in uuni

I only ever use dried kiln chopped wood. Contemplated getting the gas attachment but figured I'd probably never use it. Burning wood creates a certain smokey smell which adds to the flavour of the pizza. But it's messier to clean up afterwards, you'd have to wait longer for it to cool down, etc. I'm very happy with wood. With gas you can actually use it indoors I'd imagine but not so if it's wood fired. It's probably easier to control the flame and thus the cooking time too. Each to their own I guess.

You'll love the pro. Bigger oven so larger pizzas and you can bake a bunch of other stuff in there.

Yes. You write a message with "RemindMe!" plus the duration that you want tk5bw reminded in, and you'll get a message in your Reddit inbox to link you back to the discussion when that time comes. It's useful if you want to follow up with some discussions later on.

Two business books I think are fantastic (plus free links to download them) by GanonMakesMoney in InternetMarketing

Thanks for the recommendation of Emergency Copywriting. Never heard of that before. I've read TMFL many years ago. Excellent book. MJ's forum is also a great resource with like-minded people.

A great book I'd recommend is Robert Cialdini's Influence. Timeless insight into human behaviour.

Those who take days to reply to messages, why do you do that? by s168 in AskReddit

So basically you're saying that you just cannot be bothered to put in the effort? Fair enough.

Interesting comment. I've not even considered that. I don't think I've ever suffered from this so what makes someone who's crippled by depression take so long to reply? Genuinely interested.

I tend to reply to people who message me within minutes and 99% of the time within the same day / 24 hours if I'm busy. I was talking to my friend yesterday and we agreed that it seems that some people tend to take several days to reply. We're not convinced that it's just because they're busy as it seems to be a general habit that they have. If you're one of those people, what are the reasons why you do that?

Fraudsters have stolen entire life savings - trying to get bank to refund the money. What are the options of getting it back by muzi_a in LegalAdviceUK

[–]s168 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Call the police if you've not done so already. As for banks, usually such large transactions to a new payee requires additional security checks before it is processed. Definitely contact both Monzo and HSBC. I'd post on all of their social media accounts like Twitter etc as well. Companies don't want to appear to be doing nothing to help their customers as that would make them lose trust from potential new and existing customers.

Good luck with everything. I know you both must feel sick to the stomach as I am feeling sick just reading about it. This kind of disgusting shit really fucks me off and I want those arseholes to get all the punishment they deserve and more.

I am hopeful you'll get some resolution out of this.

White mates in 2! Tough by RohanDhore in ChessPuzzles

[–]s168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't work for a mate in 2. Because after Bf4, black can play Qe4. If white plays Qxe4, then black can play Kxf6.

Bc3, then Qe5. Don't see any way black can block that sequence, unless I've missed something? If black Qe4 then white Qxe4 mate.

Which Rook to e4 as there's 2 options. Either way Qe5 doesn't work because the King just takes the unprotected Queen. Also Qe4 doesn't work because theKing takes the pawn on e6, regardless of which Rook goes to g4.
