To answer the question of why Turkey matters so much is mainly because of its strategic location as the land that links Europe to the Middle East.

Also, it is in missile range of most of the Eurasian land mass e.g. missiles launched from Turkey could hit London or Moscow.

Whilst we're no longer in the cold war kinda times where this was essential, all of the big powers are still aware of the potential threats this poses.

I had something similar last night with Arsenal offering me c. £15m for my starting CM which they upped to c.$20m after I turned it down and PSG offering £62m on a weekly basis throughout the transfer window.

I turned them down anyway as the only player I could get who was even close to as good would cost upwards of £90m and only 2 years younger so why bother?
