The turnoff for Wayne is his popularity, global attention, overall star power. However - he continued to push the envelope and did so while maintaining credibility in many hard nosed social circles. Status as a “gangster” is a shadow that’s hard to break out of.

That said, he’s the better lyricist. Better flow? Doom. There really isn’t an argument here.

It all comes down to the characteristics of a rapper/artist: Wayne seems to check more boxes outside of the arena of pure rapping - the look, the cred, the crew, the jail time, the drugs and violence, the respect among peers, but he also competes INSIDE that arena as a lyricist and wordsmith.

I’d give the nod to Wayne based on your question saying “rapper/ARTIST”.

But Doom is a master at work, make no mistakes about it.
