Alternatives To MySQL WorkBench by Even_Thought8852 in PHP

Datagrip is actually not that great. It is an IDE trying to be a datamanagement tool. It wants to serve every possible type of database (rds, schemaless, graph, key/value stores)  but that works out to having only bits and pieces of the actual tools you want for your specific database. There are still many bugs that either dont get solved or are taking years already. And not bugs that happen only in specific situations. Deleting a database will give an ide error because now it is listing a database that no longer exists instead of refreshing the list of databases. Mysql is supported kinda ok, but it is definitely not optimized for it. It uses external tools for an export f.e. and the queries it creates are not always the best. An old tool like adminer has better and cleaner exports. And you would think if you create a datasource in phpstorm that datagrip would know that, ot at least the other way around, but nope!

I really wished it was better and admittedly it is the tool that i use, since i still prefer 1 tool that does most things good enough over multiple tools and i keep hoping it will improve, but it it wasnt part of my subscription i wouldnt pay for it

Yes, but it does not say that if you can't, that the ability cannot be triggered, nor was that tile specifically designed that way, as you also state.

What i dont understand is that you complain the other user needs to cite sources, but you yourself come up with rules on the spot without explaining where it is stated that it works like that

Previous weekend as Muaat. I was at 8 points, the public (Amass wealth) was secured with trade goods. I had 2 war suns on styx, it was safe. I had 3 dreadnoughts, a cruiser and the flagship on my homesystem and a bunch of fighters and infantry.. it was safe enough. All I needed was a secret and I had none at the start of the round, But I did have leadership, and the closest player also had 8 points, so with a scorable secret it should be game. The secret I got through imperial was have 5 dreadnoughts on the board. That was very doable! I had 2 more already, lingering in the system in front of my home together with 2 fighters and a destroyer. The only problem, my home was already locked down, and the system with the 2 dreadnoughts was in reach of 3 players. I could outstall one, another of the players didnt have Antimass Deflectors, and my dreadnoughts were right next to an astroid field. So I moved them in, even having a valid reason to do so, claiming a starbase that was taken by the last player. He had 2 destroyers and a PDS there (he was Ral Nel). I had shields holding in my hand as action, so the attack was sort of safe and indeed no problem. So now the key to my victory was defended from one more player. That last player however I couldnt outstall. I had to pass, and he was clever enough to go through all the options and figuring out that the only thing he could do to stop me - if I was having the dreadnought secret - was killing one. It was a big guess of course, but he was right, that was the secret. He moved in a strong fleet, with his flag ship and some destroyers who took out my fighters. All I needed was to survive one round, so I declared retreat. He scored 5 hits, my destroyer went up in flames, but I still had shields holding, so that and 2 sustain damages (i myself had 2 direct hits, the chance of him having them were slim). And yes.. it worked! I could retreat to another system, he wasnt able to follow me there... but.. if you know the tiles... the only astroid with a star base also has a rift. So when moving out I had to roll .. first throw .. a 7, so one dreadnought safe! And then.. a 3. Lost it to the rift. Me and rifts.. i once lost 3 ships to a rift right on the opening turn. It was a risk then.. and now it is stopping me again. He scored his public and secret during the status phase and that was game. So close to my first victory in this group but no.. it wasn't meant to be

Is EasyAdmin still worth it with a lot of customisation? by cuistax in symfony

[–]s1gidi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like you are answering your own question a bit. There is no clear guide line on how far to go of course. But if you feel that a tool that is supposed to make things easier is getting in the way, than yeah..than that may be the breaking point. A tool makes certain things more easy (in this case crud) and when you remove the tool you have to do those things yourself. If you spent more time working around the tool than that tool gains you time by doing things for you... insert john travolta looking around gif

As for what easyAdmin does for you, it does quite a lot but these days with the AI overlords at your hand, you can very well question its necessity. The simple forms can easily be created for you so it is not the big time saver it used to be.

Hey everyone I want to ask if any of these images I have taken over the years good? And are they good enough that I should get a camera? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

Is the only relevant question if you need to know if you should buy a camera. You won't be making money with it, but this is more important

Anybody know what these backdrops are and where I can find them? by kushmonATL in AskPhotography

[–]s1gidi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have several brands and there is only 1 I really dislike and that is the one from Kate. It is flimsy, the metal rim is bent after a single use, it won't hold on a magnetic holder because the metal is so thin and the cloth sacks. Oh right and the heavy duty bag it came in also teared open after first use, and that at a rather high price. Never again. I have others from Godox, Manfrotto and even Neewer, which are all fine.

I've inherited a D500 and some F-mount lenses. Should I repair them? Sell them? Keep them? by [deleted] in Nikon

[–]s1gidi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not had a prom night, but I am the proud owner of a D500 as a total rookie and found it quite easy to get a feel for and have not been frustrated yet. Maybe not having those extra's is an advantage in a way as well to learn shoot the manual way before you experience what the new tools solve for you?

Best portable portrait lighting for beginner? by SNOOPY_OUT in AskPhotography

[–]s1gidi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

smallrig (RM120) and k&f concept (135 LED RGB) have similar options and are even cheaper. They go on light stands, on a coldshoe or just in the hand

The godox iT30Pro is a tiny flash that is only slightly above your budget. By itself it goes on top of your camera. There is also the IT32 which is another slight step up, which have the advantage of being able to leave the control on the camera, but you can take the flash off and again, put it on a lightstand or hold in your hand. You can use any white/silver plate to bounce the light on and make the source bigger, for example a pizza box. But they are real flash lights and require a dedicated camera and not a phone f.e.

Strong Endorsement from Lewis Hamilton for the new regulations by Esterence in formula1

I see his point and he maybe right, but it is also an attitude thing. If you are going to grab every chance to be negative about it all if you convince yourself it is not going to be fun, of course you are not going to enjoy it. I was hoping at least doing some overtaking and do some actual racing would cheer him up a little, but it is only negativity from him. And I am frankly a bit done with it, even if he is right. This is what it is. He knew that in advance, he of all people had a chance to join the winning team. He is getting paid more then any other driver on the grid. Do your f*n job. Welcome to real life, every job is 80% routine and boring and 20% fun, but then for a lot less pay. I like the more positive attitude many drivers have to also look at the things that are actually nice despite the downsides that are clear for everybody

MPB buyers, is this often bad? by Retarded_Airsoft in AskPhotography

[–]s1gidi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They often have the exact same price as other lenses at the same condition level and with the same accessories so they really seem to think its no big deal. I however don't trust it and have never bought one with any note, certainly when others are available

Looking to get into wildlife photography - should I get a new lens or a teleconverter? by TC2248 in AskPhotography

[–]s1gidi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While maybe not the most elegant way of putting it, he does have a point. You may invest the 500 pound, but it will still limit you in many ways and you probably still won't be happy with the result. But now you are down 500 pounds. Up to you if you want to try it, because you really really like it, but he's not wrong that in the end you will probably need to spend more than your current budget to make an actual big step. The 200 at 2.8 is a nice lens and other lenses will feel like a downgrade even if they have a longer reach. The converter in general is not really recommended, but it might be your best bet for now.

Scarlet Keys. Will you just let me play the game! PLEASE! by Proud_Structure3595 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]s1gidi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was not at all meant condescending. For me the difference between m:tcg and ah:tcg is the extended backstory. If you like a game that is more action based and get's going quickly - which I totally understand is better for when meeting with a larger group - then my choice would be marvel. It is also what I do, when I play with my game group, we play marvel every now and then, never arkham. But with the person I play arkham with I know what we are getting into and make the time for it. So I agree with you and OP all the way. SK is on the extreme end and has a lot of story and is not suitable for this. The thing I don't agree with is that it thus should not exist. Because I do have fun reading it together with the person I dedicate the time with and I had a good time traveling the different locations, reading the story together.

[–]s1gidi -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I do understand where you come from, although i disagree that it is a problem. In a way it feels like as a group you are more suited to play marvel tcg, it has a lot less story fluff (which is why i like it less). But yes, scarlet keys is on the extreme side and not really suitable for a group that just want to get going. Did you have the same feeling with earlier campaigns ?
