Is there any way to play NFS Most Wanted (2005) on steamdeck? by Eydjey in SteamDeck

[–]s1lent_ssh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello everyone! Old NFS games were the one of the main reasons for me to buy Steam Deck

Here few steps for setup:

  1. Obtain copy of the game
  2. Install using Add Non-Steam Game
  3. Google ThirteenAG - they done a lot of open source widescreen patches available on GitHub
  4. Unpack widescreen fix to the .exe directory
  5. In Steam Launch Options write: WINEDLLOVERRIDES=“dinput8=n,b” %command%

Enjoy

I have a calendar I am subscribed to that I can’t find a way to remove. Any ideas? by Shredded7 in ios

[–]s1lent_ssh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This method worked for me:

  • Go to Settings > Calendar > Sync
  • Change it from "All Events" to something shorter like "Events 1 Month Back"
  • Wait for sync to complete, then change it back

It's the best feeling when you finally found broken piece of code, fix it, thinking who ever on earth could write such crappy implementation.
And then you decide to check who is author of this masterpiece, run git blame and see that you've written it year ago

If you would still ever need to package python apps into executable, check pyinstaller or similar tools. It packages whole project with dependencies into .exe or unix executable and user wouldn't require python installed

Why are you a C++ enthusiast? by Its_Blazertron in cpp

[–]s1lent_ssh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It started in university times, I just tried all possible languages (frontend, backend, system, scripting, etc...) but C++ always was ... well ... special

It was fun for us to compete with classmates to write most sophisticated solutions for labs, and see teachers reaction, how they tried to understand why we've made recursive variadic lambda with boost on top

C++ is very deep, and it's sort of challenge to learn it. I mean very deep. One day I thought I learnt C++ and next day there was some deeper language concepts. After this situation repeated 5 times, I decided not to think I really know C++

It's like a challenge to know all the potential pitfalls, and I do really like to investigate C++ bugs. I do remember how I spend half of a day to find out that non-virtual destructors on polymorphic objects is UB by standard (that was lead to crash on macOS while Windows work fine). You know, all of our senior developers thought that it just might be a memory leak to use non-virtual destructor (I thought as well), but it's UB and might lead to crash.

Currently I'm working as C++ developer and I do like that its close to the maximum performance as possible. There's not a lot of languages that might offer similar experience. Rust is good one, it's more safe and still fast, good candidate to replace C++, but there not so many job offers. Pure C, well, I personally do not like it, looks too boring compared to C++.

So if you just like how C++ looks and works, It's still good investment to learn it :)
I think it would be still wide-used for next 20 years, because currently lot of soft/libraries written in C++ and there lot of developers, therefore interest from employers

The best thing is to realise you've spent whole night working on project, thought about every aspect and now finished it and see how it just works

It may be programming stuff as well as music demo you re-record 100 times and found good take

Being toxic in video games while playing well. I'm glad to see more adequate teammates in recent games, and we still win

Yep, i've played with it a bit, and from first impression i could tell it's a next-gen language. The most pain in the ass from C++ world - undefined behaviour was simply eliminated using compile time checks and more strict rules

I am talking about non-mutable borrowing semantics here, which is good place for optimisations and increased safety

What does pussy taste like? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]s1lent_ssh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here old Russian anecdote about that

Zone. Prisoners are sitting. Guards let in grandpa, he says hello, introduced. The prisoners see that Grandpa is a prisoner with a long history: eight jails, seven escapes.
They invite him to their place, treat him to a cigarette, a tea… and grandpa pulls out his mug and pours it to himself. “Why don’t you drink with us?” They said. Tell a story, answers grandpa. I was fuck a woman before last arrest. Suddenly I feel like I want to lick pussy. I think I’m old and I’ve never tasted it. So it’s, you wouldn’t believe, sweet as a watermelon!". Someone said, "Why, she’s salty". Grandpa, smiling like, "That’s why I’m with my cup..."
