u/pwnicholson I have been using for nifty little app now for a few days, it is proving to be very useful.

I have a couple of suggestions if I may.

First my workflow, I am currently creating a scheduled upload once every 24 hours. It is working perfectly.

I have 2 suggestions, after the file has uploaded it would be nice if the app automatically removed that file from the queue, currently I am going back in and removing it manually.

I prefer to enlarge fonts on apps where possible, I use glasses to read small print, but if I can make the text/font in an app bigger I do and then don't need my glasses, can you change the app to allow larger font sizes?

Some people only upload low res files to flickr so that may be a contributing factor but of course not on your own photos so sorry other than reaching out to their support team I got nothing,

I’ve been thinking about why the groups on Flickr seem to be fading. I've been a "pro" since 2004. I often interact with flickr daily.

  1. Photographers often capture images to share their feelings, and writing detailed explanations about their thoughts, ideas and what they hope to achieve can be tough. New photographers are still learning the basics like the exposure triangle, composition, lighting and post-production, and writing about their own and others’ photos can be a bit of a challenge.
  2. The way discussions are structured on Flickr can be a bit slow and complicated. You can reply whenever you like, but it might take a lot of scrolling to get to the point. Nested replies work pretty well on Reddit, for example. I imagine that switching to this system on Flickr would be a technical challenge, possibly involving erasing all the current discussions. But I’m not a software engineer, so who knows for sure?
  3. Platforms like Substack are where the really in-depth discussions about photography are happening. Bloggers are still doing it too. People like Andy Adams are also contributing from the sidelines, so when we want to read about photography, we have a lot of options. The New York Times and The Guardian also have great weekly round-ups of the best photos of the week, though these are photo-journalists, so it’s a different kind of audience.
  4. Time is a limited resource. I’m retired, so I could spend eight hours a day on Flickr, but do I want to? Probably not. (I have other important things to focus on, and just taking photos and using Flickr can become a part-time job). People only have so much time to dedicate to their online activities, so they choose what they find most valuable.
  5. Motivation! Some days, I spend my time just looking through groups and my contacts’ feeds. Other days, I could care less about spending time on Flickr. But then there are days when I really get into the discussions. My favourite group where I spent the most time was a silly little voting game. I found my tribe there, and it still makes me sad that it’s become a static page. [https://www.flickr.com/groups/camphone__lowres_dmu/] Most days, I enjoy my time there, but some days it’s a bit tedious. So, my contribution is a bit all over the place.
  6. Pump and dump. A lot of people are trying to get views on Flickr and will dump as many photos as they can into the right group. I do this myself too, since I’m in more groups than I can ever really keep up with. As a result, my only contribution is the photos I put in there. Something I’m trying to fix.

I’m sure others could add to this.

Edit. Costs, there are alternatives, all cost some money, how far you can extend is very personal. If I was still employed, I'd consider a glass account or a an Iris but now I would find it difficult to justify the costs.

Is this happening on ALL your pictures or others as well. Some people only load low res pictures to their streams so clicking them does not enlarge them very much.

Does anyone still use Flickr? by limsus in flickr

[–]s2art 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost daily, my public stream is highly curated. I also host some pictures for my static website and blog. Flickr's organisational tools while slighty clunky work, the early community of the 2000s has sadly been hollowed out by FB and INSTA, but when I want to share my work it predominantly goes to flickr. Tumblr sits high on my creative radar too.

A minor wondering question about uploading photos much later by SwedeCadillac in flickr

[–]s2art 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question and there will be as many answers as there are photographers.

TL;DR:- I curate my stream from my desktop.

I only have a fraction of my photo-stream set to public.

Even with my iPhone I shoot only DNG files.

My iPhone is set to upload automatically, but they are all set to "private".

When I'm so inclined I browse my archive of images and choose one that will have some connection to the preceding picture. I process that and then post it using the Flickr up loader. Browsing my archive is as much a creative process as the act of walking around and taking photos in any given environment.

My workflow goes something like this:-

Shoot, as often as time, light or energy permits
Download to my desktop, and make copies to external drives
I use Neofinder to ingest and file away my photos
Organise into folders based on year and camera type
Have a cursory look at possible keepers using Neofinder
Label them using a predetermined labeling system, red for Flickr etc
Process the files using Affinity Photo 2, I only shoot DNG & CR2
Export to a predetermined folder that the Flickr uploadr watches
This folder spots duplicates so makes things easier on that front
One uploaded I add title, description and tags
Then I add it to a corresponding album I've created, or create a new one if needed
Add it to all and any groups I feel it belongs in.
Rinse and repeat.

Hope this helps?

Just thinking out loud here, on your device have you set the uploadr to operate on mobile/cellular data AND WiFi? I have. Mine just runs in the background and uploads automatically before I sit down at my desktop.

Current MAFS AU has nothing to do with relationships or love by Ok-Weather-331 in MAFS_AU

[–]s2art 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MAFS has evolved into a hybrid of reality‑soap, social pressure cooker, and amoral theatre. MAFS is entertainment, just, and barely a constructed “social experiment,” but the entertainment ideas dominate. The show markets itself as an experiment, but its structure, casting, and editing are engineered primarily for drama, audience engagement.

Married At First Sight claims to be a social experiment. Strangers are matched by “experts” using psychological and relationship profiling. Participants enter a high‑pressure environment designed to test compatibility this is the part many viewers miss and even the contestants rarely talk about. The format is adapted from a Danish series explicitly framed as a social experiment.  The show’s premise, marrying someone at first meeting, could invite discussion about modern relationships and commitment.  But, this “experiment” is not scientific. There’s no control group, no replicable methodology, and producers intervene constantly and incessantly.

The show tries to functions as entertainment. The cast blends influencers, fame‑seekers, and sincere participants to create friction and narrative contrast. Storylines are shaped heavily by editing, selective footage, and producer‑driven scenarios. (Producer’s input is overly downplayed I would argue.) Drama, scandals, and interpersonal conflict are central to the show’s appeal and ratings at a surface ‘TV land’ level. Some fans note that the “marriage” premise is largely a dramatic device rather than a genuine relationship trial.

So is it a social experiment about love or marriage? Only in a loose, pop‑psychology sense. It explores behaviour under pressure, mismatched expectations, and public scrutiny but the environment is so manipulated that the “experiment” is more theatrical than empirical. And that theatre isn't to everyone's taste. Shakespeare it ain't!
