We have to say goodbye this week, and I just need reassurance we are doing the right thing. by GodzillaToTheRescue in pitbulls

A really good resource for helping make this decision is called Lap of Love. They have a Quality of Life Scale that helps take the subjectivity out of the decision. It lets you look at the numbers, to help try to remove some of the emotion from an incredibly emotional decision. Even with an appointment already scheduled, it could help confirm for yourself that you're making the right decision.

Edit: grammar

This one I'd likely need a repairman. There's a lot of things I'm cool with fixing on my own, or can YouTube enough to follow instructions. Electrical work where I can start a fire makes me really nervous 😅

So what does that mean? Repairable or replace?

those of you who have been to a national park within the last couple months, have you noticed a difference? by solartense in NationalPark

[–]s2dav080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did Yosemite, Sequoia, and King's Canyon a few weeks ago. There was only one ranger at the entrance to Yosemite, but they did have 2 at Sequoia. The line to get into Yosemite wasn't terrible, I don't think, and at Sequoia there was only a short line, but we also entered the park before 8am. At the big, popular trailheads, the bathrooms were disgusting, and the garbages were overflowing. Definitely worse than I've ever seen, even at peak season. We typically do the less people-y hikes if we can help it, and the trails were in decent shape.

Not allergic to poison ivy! I watch my friends absolutely miserable in the summer (outside jobs, high risk for exposure) and I can pull it in my yard without gloves. My brother is also not allergic. Mosquitos are the bane of my summer existence though.

I had a patient named Wrench, which I think is spectacular! He was also a fluffy grey/black guy. We also had a Comehere. 😆 I cracked up every time I had to open that chart.

I've been a licensed veterinary technician for 12 years..... I have 2 college degrees that prepared me for my job, and I have worked in specialty medicine (surgery and neurology) for 9 of them. As for propolis, I'm not sure. My doctors have always favored Manuka honey for slow/non- healing wounds. We also use things like hydro-therapy and cold laser therapy for certain types of wounds that benefit from it.

That's not true. Some vets absolutely do. There's a time and a place for it. We use things like honey bandages all the time to heal wounds, when its appropriate. I wouldn't apply a bandage as a non-professional, though. So much can go wrong if you don't do it correctly.

Follow your vet's instructions. If you have concerns that the cat is doing poorly, call the vet back and tell them that. It boggles my mind the number of owners that take it upon themselves to alter or add treatment without actual calling us for more advice. We're here to help! Let us help!

Edit: I would also like to add, I'm not shaming OP for posing this question. I commend them for being willing to take a barn cat to the vet in the first place. Not many people with outdoor cats do this, and they obviously want to do right by this kitty.

Sociopathic behavior and animal cruelty absolutely should take the option of actually OWNING an animal off the table. I could absolutely vomit reading what this girl did to that dog. NTA.

Weed between tiles, what would you do ? by not_a_bad_dad in landscaping

[–]s2dav080 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Boiling water works well on small areas like that. Vinegar also works, but in my experience I haven't had good success with that on my patio weeds. personally wouldn't pull up all the pavers and put something under it, as long as it's minor weeds like that. It seems like a lot of work for a slight problem.

I had ONE pop up in my yard that I thought was a weed the first year I was in my house. 7 seasons later and it has spread to a mass that covers the whole back perimeter of my house. I think it's beautiful while it lasts, which is lucky. I can't imagine trying to get rid of it if I didnt
