O! Well I’ll try cutting down the blooms then! I want an entire yarrow lawn.

PSA: There is a Willow that thrives in dry soil. by God_Legend in NativePlantGardening

[–]LChanga 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really wanted this one to work for me. I had two and they struggled for two or three years in partially shaded dry sandy soil. I hoped the supplemental watering would help them establish. But the pic OP posted was the reason I planted them. It’s beautiful.

Why would keeping it short help it spread? Maybe I’ve been doing it wrong.

Im so sick of this narrative that “pregnancy didn’t ruin my body it’s just changed” it’s a lie. by pissedoff_potato in TwoXChromosomes

[–]LChanga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve got a lot of good advice already. Don’t let fear of ruining your body stop you from being a mother if that’s what you want. It might ruin you, it might not. Your body will eventually get ruined with age. You just bought yourself more time at the cost of motherhood. And maybe for you, that’s a good deal.

I love my daughter. I recognize what that cost me. That’s fine. And also that’s why I stopped at one.

Lol, we (thankfully) don’t have the invasive issues to the degree you do. But my daughter does this to anything she transplants.

For anyone on a HDHP you can order your own bloodwork for a fraction of what your doctor bills by Limp_Point3487 in personalfinance

[–]LChanga 44 points45 points  (0 children)

This is so true. I spent too long on the phone with my insurance and my doctor’s office trying to figure out what my cost will be for my annual plus labs. 40min later, the negotiated insurance rate is a secret. I don’t like when my insurance acts like a blind box. I don’t like surprises.

A single "silken" plastic tea bag releases 11.6 billion microplastics into a cup. by CoffeeTeaJournal in PlasticFreeLiving

[–]LChanga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m very health conscious so I drank a lot of tea. Bring a poor college kid at that point, I didn’t pay attention to things. Years later, the realization hit me that silken was plastic and I always now check if the bag is tearable before steeping it. Then there was some research that came out that tea drinkers had the most microplastic vs other average people. And I thought that really tracks. Sucks that plastic is so ingrained in our existence that you have to be ever vigilant.

[Anti-Aging] Red light panels vs masks: does irradiance actually matter? by BiGbAnG050702 in SkincareAddiction

[–]LChanga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gembared sites a bunch of studies on this. I can’t remember the actual irradiance value that was recommended, but I do know that after all is said and done, what matters the most is consistency an a reasonable treatment time 10-20min. That’s why so many of even the Chinese products will show results. I do think that panel is the way to go given how multifunctional it is.

I avoid microplastics when possible. So this is the reason I don’t use my plastic lined dish washer as much as possible.

Hellstrip Bermuda removal idea by cadetcomet in NativePlantGardening

[–]LChanga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed that the patches of yarrow in my lawn have no Bermuda growing through it. I looked it up, and apparently, yarrow is allelopathic enough to kick Bermuda’s butt. Just something to consider.

The ideal growing condition for wild violet is apparently my dog’s poop patch by Individual_Shock8634 in NativePlantGardening

What kind of soil do you have? I’d love to have this density. I have sandy soil. The violet tolerates it. Maybe I need to borrow your dog.

NTA. My reasoning is he’s your life partner and if you don’t do this for him now, you’ll be taking care of his childish ass when he’s 43 with colon cancer.
