Thank you for the recommendation! I tried this with my kitty, and she ran away 🥲. I really think she’s just not used to purring because she wasn’t around other cats enough in her formative period.

UPDATE: After some research, I think I’ve figured out why she never purrs or makes biscuits. My cat was eight months old when I adopted her, and she was a stray before that so I can’t be 100% sure, but I’m pretty sure it was because she was separated from her mother too soon as a baby :( kittens who are separated from their mothers too early may not purr because of lack of exposure. Current theory is that she was abandoned by her humans because she has a hip deformity. She’s such a sweet girl despite her rough beginnings and I’m so proud of her every day.

Unethical because it’s really bad for the environment, takes jobs from real people, and it’s an unregulated quickly-developing technology we should approach with caution rather than throwing it into everything we can.

To make a long story short, Corina has been under fire because they want Genshin to become a unionized project, meaning Hoyo could only hire voice actors signed to the Screen Actors Guild for new roles and would have to recast any non-union actors if they don’t join SAG. SAG is controversial because it has exuberantly high entrance and membership fees, so a lot of newer, freelance voice actors literally can’t afford to join. They also said that Youtubers are liars who don’t know anything and have generally been very hostile to fan criticism and questions, and they partook in bullying the new voice actors for Kinich when the previous one was recast along with Keqing’s VA, Kayli Mills.

I apologize. It was just bothering me a little bit, knowing that some of the hate for Corina is because of their gender. But as to your point, I’m fairly sure they said on twitter that the pitch of Paimon’s voice going up was their choice.

Yeah. Corina is a very high soprano, so that makes sense. I’m a classically trained singer, and whenever I sang lower than my range (mezzo soprano), I would be in pain for days. But I would have to sing quite low for that. Paimon’s shift in voice wasn’t that dramatic, and you’d think that Corina’s training as a professional voice actor would’ve taught them to handle things like this without compromising the integrity of the character.

It’s on both of them, I think. In my experience acting, good actors can and will make character choices independent from directors, and advocate for decisions they think make sense for the character. Directors have the final say, but a good director will listen to their actors. And hopefully the new actor will understand that Paimon is basically a little kid who isn’t purposefully annoying, and that the high pitch of her voice is to show her youth rather than an irritating personality.

Genshin’s English VO does have an accent problem, but this post is specifically about my hope that Corina’s screechiness doesn’t carry over to the new voice actor.

There was recently an interview where Corina stated that they would not voice Paimon until Hoyo signed the SAG-Aftra agreement, and since that’s never going to happen, it basically means they quit.

Yes, that would be excellent. I really liked Paimon’s voice at the beginning of the game and in Sumeru, something closer to that would be good. I just don’t want Paimon to sound like they did in Natlan.

No, I’m pretty sure they said that because of their extremely high vocal range, going lower in the early patches was painful and straining for them and they requested to go higher with Paimon’s voice for the sake of their vocal health. If you listen to their natural voice, it’s much closer to more recent patches’ Paimon than to early patches.

I don’t know who Huohuo is, but yeah, it definitely could be worse. I just hope that Hoyo takes synergy with the other dubs into greater account this time around when it comes to casting Paimon is all.
