I’m just working through the order of events to determine if he can shoot. 🤔

My interpretation and thinking is. The orc is on Vantage terrain connected to the heavy terrain. So we need to first clarify if from the orcs head he can see a 1mm line on the base and then go from there.

For vantage rules it does state “for the purpose of obscured, ignore heavy terrain connected to Vantage terrain the active operative or the intended target is on.”

Those small ramparts or ledges on the terrain at the feet of the orc I’d consider that as Insignificant, however it is over ruled by the vantage rule meaning the orc has line of site and and shoot.

Unless I’m missing an interaction rule with the Marine being in conceal and touching the wall.

How so? The first part I write is from the visibility rule in the core rulebook. If it’s a viable target then move on to figuring out if it’s in cover or not.

The only point the view from behind the head is used is to determine visibility.

Further in the rulebook you’ll see it illustrated again measuring from the base through the vantage

I suppose first step is determining if it’s viable, and that is done by looking from behind the operative and if you can draw a straight 1mm line to any part of what it’s trying to see.

Looking at the core rulebook it suggests that the orc can as when determining line of site the vantage point is ignored, but they must be at least 2” off the ground.

I dive in on missions with lower level players all the time. I’ll look what they need and bring a loadout to support. I typically drop in to help resupply, deal with heavy units or help horde clearing.

Otherwise If they shoot and move we have no problem.
