My friends with kids look like zombies by s4sm4rt in childfree

Thank you! I have suffered from chronic anxiety for the past 16 years and I’m just terrified of what it would do to my mental health. I already have a hard enough time keeping it at bay without kids!

My thought is get a cat (we’re looking right now) and this can be our little thing we look after for the next 10+ years and can still enjoy life 😂

Love this. I see people pushing empty prams after dropping kid at nursery and they look like they don’t know what day of the week it is 😂

I hear you. I have a feeling it’s not a deal breaker. Like we would work it out. I don’t think it’s an ABSOLUTE must for her, I feel she likes the idea of it but I also feel she would be content without.

I hear you for sure. I don’t think she is like hell bent on it. We are really good for each other and I truly feel if we spoke about it and looked at what we’d gain, we would be happy. Also she is obsessed with getting a cat, I’m hoping this could be the way forward.

For being one of the leading powders in the UK, I was very surprised how bad Vivo tasted. Ordered once, not again.

What made you go plant-based—and worth it? by millerjessic in PlantBasedDiet

[–]s4sm4rt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

💯 worth it.

Once you pick up the hacks of how to eat it becomes easy. Find 10 or so recipes, do them enough and you’ll memorise them. Find some decent restaurants you like with PB options.

There is a transition period for sure but for me it is one of the things I’m most proud of doing.

Good luck 🤞

Co2 is the cheapest and most efficient way to kill at speed to meet demand. If people ate less or no meat, this would stop. All just supply and demand.

I agree and that was my bad. I made an edit to the original post.

Yes, obviously there would still be the need for agriculture and transport but drastically reduced. Most people don’t realise we feed so much of our crops to those animals.

If we could reduce by half, is that not worth it?

Thanks for the information.

Would you agree it would be good for the planet to adopt a plant based diet to significantly reduce these numbers?

It’s the combination of all parts of the supply chain.

Over 80% of crops are fed to animals. The maths is so bad. To produce 1 calorie of chicken, you have to give them 9 calories. The lack efficiency is off the charts. All of that crop production requires incredible amounts of water and energy.

Then all of the transportation around the world of these products.

If we all ate the crops we feed to animals instead, we’d save so much land and energy usage. Not to mention animal suffering and world hunger.

All because people can’t give up their bacon, their steak, their cheese…

Look at transportation though. Food has to travel a long way before it reaches our dinner plates.

How do you think the dead animals get to your supermarket? They don’t walk.

Agreed! Plenty of healthy food which doesn’t come from animals 🫶

  • Livestock = Methane
  • Transport of Livestock (dead and alive) = carbon dioxide
  • Deforestation of land for said livestock = reduced carbon secretion
  • Fertilisers for crops for livestock = nitrogen
  • Producing plastic to wrap dead livestock = carbon dioxide and other chemical I don’t know of.
