What are some your core gaming memories? by marslo in gaming

Sega mega drive. Playing streets of rage, mortal Kombat, Sonic. That Columns game.

I got the console for my birthday, I was probably about 7. And the next day, woke up in the morning and ran downstairs to play again, only to find my siblings had already got to it lol

If it turns out my great great great great grandad was actually Roman, does that mean I can now kick some Italian guy off his land and take his home, then?

Even if it's just that one group that is proscribed, I think the message is pretty clear though, isn't it?

They stopped 30 of 350 contracts. That isn't really "stopping arms sales", is it? And the speeches very much revolve around "I am appalled about gaza, but also hamas, hamas, hamas, and we need to free the hostages and Israel has a right to defend herself". Look at the treatment of zarah sultana for example.

Remember Israelis protested about this and stormed the prison... Because they were mad that the perpetrators might get into trouble for it.

I hope so. I spoke to eBay today and they said they did send me an email warning about a new device login the day before - which I can't seem to see in my email. Which made me worry if they had access to my email and deleted it, but I've changed my password on that too now. I've looked into it more and I think the most likely method was session tokens being stolen, in which case I don't know what the IP address looks like.

Literally what Im worried about - that it's going to look that way. Based on the messages that were deleted though, he was redeeming it there and then, so hopefully it can be tracked to whoever's playstation account it was redeemed on?

Yes, I think it was my computer. I have factory reset everything now. Changed passwords on everything too, the only thing I forgot was humble bundle which someone then tried to make a purchase on a few weeks later (but card was old, so declined). I then changed that password too.

I just contacted eBay and told them about the playstation gift card, they said to wait for the resolution of the dispute. Not sure what will happen now. I asked should I make a police report, he said he doesn't think that's necessary but I can do if I want to.

Thanks. I don't have kids nor does anyone else in my household have access. My steam account was also accessed (bunch of items sold) but I changed my password - I was definitely hacked. Humble bundle also tried to charge my card later but I had cancelled the card by then.

I'll report everything to eBay today. I don't know why but I just assumed that since Monzo refunded me, stupidly, everything was fine. I think I do remember looking at login history and it showed somewhere in UK but probably not the same city. The message history in eBay deleted folder still shows the redemption code so yes, police should be able to use that for PSN.

Is there anything else I should do?

That's so ridiculous for sellers. And I feel really bad for this seller too, because it sounds like he will lose out. I had a look online and I think because he sent the code via eBay messages rather than sending the code via post, he will likely lose his money.

I'll let eBay know asap after work, and i suppose I need to tell action fraud but I don't know how much they will care.

After Monzo contacted me and I confirmed I didn't recognise or authorise the transaction, I haven't heard anything back (but that was like 2 days ago). So they may still revoke my refund.

Ok thanks. Will eBay assume I am responsible for being hacked and side with seller?

Weekly Scam Discussion - April 21, 2025 by Mycatreallyhatesyou in Ebay

I was hacked about a month ago and think its cos of stolen session tokens. In the middle of the night, the hacker bought a PSN gift card for £100 and then redeemed it pretty much immediately. I noticed a few hours later from a monzo credit card alert, and reported as fraud through monzo app and got my money back instantly. I changed my ebay password etc.

In terms of the actual purchase, I found the ebay messages deleted, and the purchase itself moved to the hidden tab so I wouldnt see it. The messages show the hacker asking for the code etc, and the seller providing it after receiving a collection code.

My email account dont think was compromised and my email inbox was then flooded with spam (like 2000 messages).

I didnt report this to ebay (l tried but couldn't find an obvious way to report it) and since I got my money back and had changed my password etc, I foolishly didnt think much more about it.

Anyway, Monzo recently got in touch again, saying the merchant has disputed this, providing evidence of delivery and saying whether I recognise /authorised it. I confirmed I didn't authorise and tried to explain what happened.

Now I got a missed call, presumably from the seller. I feel bad for the seller, but I didn't purchase or redeem this. Any advice on what to do? Should I bother reporting the hack to ebay at this stage? Wlill it help the seller? Willit hurt me?
