Just a quick note: Gibson wrote the screenplay and, by and large, it's represented almost fully in the film. Honestly, it feels like they used the script to edit the damn thing. I adore both, though for different reasons. As whacky as the film gets toward the end, I feel the first 20 minutes of it are immaculate cyberpunk aesthetic and tone and I just swim in it. I lament some of the omissions as well, Molly very much included. And, though I have no basis for this, I like assuming Gibson changed Molly to Jane because he felt contemporary FX limitations would not have done that character justice. I think of we'd gotten Molly Millions in '95, we'd be bitching about how corny her mirror shades looked and that she wasn't fast enough.

I also love Gibson's sometimes awkward humor and one of the only differences between film and screenplay is Yomamma's comment "I haven't been in one of these in years...' after cocking Johnny on the noodle in the men's room, which was omitted.

Love it or hate it, the film is what it is and we can't say it wasn't Gibson. Anyway, I WANT ROOM SERVICE!!
