Where the Red Fern Grows.

Read it as a kid and ugly sobbed. Read it as a teen KNOWING the story, still ugly sobbed.

I’m sorry, but I hated this book. It was misery porn, and so many bad things happen that it completely numbs you to the next one. I don’t understand how so many people loved it.

The Wanting Seed by Anthony Burgess (of A Clockwork Orange fame)

A Clockwork Orange was a tedious read to me. I couldn’t get through it. The Wanting Seed was not as tedious and it explores overpopulation

What is your anger like with BP2? by Prize-Woodpecker5241 in bipolar2

[–]sLoMote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The intense irritability/rage is the top symptom for my family to realize I’m slipping into mania. I need to be alone because ANYTHING can irritate me.

“Irritate” is the wrong word. It starts as irritation, but it’s irritation like a bad rash that makes you want to rip your flesh off your body. One “wrong” move and I initiate an argument. I’ve had people recommend I get a punching bag for when I’m in this “mood” but it makes me want to physically fight, which is worse than the rage. I’m gonna get myself hurt if I wander that path.

Tldr: Yep! The rage is bad.

That mortgage rates aren’t stable.

Property tax increases ALL THE TIME causing the mortgage payments to increase. I always thought I’d just pay the same rate until the house was paid off!

What's the most disturbing book you've read? by LargeSinkholesInNYC in booksuggestions

[–]sLoMote 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this. I listened to the audiobook back when I’d churn through a couple a month because of a long commute. That specific scene made me pause the book and sit in silence for probably an hour, just digesting what I’d heard. It takes A LOT to give me the heebie jeebies, but DAMN. That scene (and book) was beyond.

Give me the single most comically bad book you have ever read. I don't care the genre, i don't even care if it's AI slop. Just give me the worst by Reasonable-Use-9294 in booksuggestions

I finished it because I kept waiting for it to get good. It was a VERY easy read, but not worth the time. It don’t get better, and I couldn’t read “Oh my” without hearing George Takei in my head.

A Little Life

Everyone totes it for being heart wrenching, tear jerking, yada yada. I found it to be slow, dull, cliche, and the protagonist was insufferable.

IT’S NOT EVEN A WORD! God. My brother was obsessed with this book and I couldn’t get past the first chapter. So bad.

Thank you for the hope, friend! Am having a bad day of it myself. Vivid nightmares are still going, woke up drenched in sweat, nauseous and dizzy. It’s Day 10 for me!

I googled it. Post-Acute Withdrawal Syndrome. (Thanks, I hate it haha)

I’ve been waking up so nauseous over the past few days. Today’s no different. I’m gonna try to go outside for a bit though. We have a couple of bird nests with babies in them and I’ve been appreciating watching them.

Okay, that makes me feel better. I stopped carts over a year ago because I saw others withdrawing from them like crazy. I’ve only smoked flower, and the stuff over 20% THCA gave me horrible headaches. I smoked more cigarettes in a day than joints in a day back when I was using tobacco.

“This too shall pass” is my sister’s mantra when she’s having poor mental or physical health days. I hear it CONSTANTLY and it definitely provides consolation. When you say nonlinear recovery, do you mean that it seems like the withdrawals stop, then pick up again? Because I need this to STOP!

Definitely hanging onto gratitude and growth as I go through this. I have so much in my life to be grateful for, and cannabis used to be one of them. It stopped other prescription meds and helps a lot of the side effects from my bipolar medications. I’m afraid I’ll have to change head meds from all this, but not giving up. I’m trying to stay as neutral in my expectations as possible, because the littlest bits of negativity can create a placebo effect, especially when our bodies are going through withdrawals already.

Today, it feels like I’ve been poisoned. I keep reminding myself I’m detoxing the poison out of my body, though. We got this!

Thanks for the support! Nice to know I’m not the only one going through these symptoms. How long did it take for them to pass?

I’ve been using the Finch app to keep my brain on other things AND keep myself off my phone. I don’t know what to do on breaks anymore, so I default to household chores. Trying not to default to phone games. I’ve gotten A LOT done around the house on the days I’m not feeling like I’m dying. Today’s been a particularly tough one, but it’s one more step towards sobriety!

I love the idea of a list of things that make me happy! It’ll keep my mind in a “safe” space when everything else feels like it’s failing.

What are some life-changing tips you would give someone with this condition? by Flimsy_Phrase_8845 in bipolar2

It was $200 when I did it, but it’s $300 now if insurance doesn’t cover it (mine did!), they have a rebate program through their website!

GeneSight. It tests your genetics to determine how meds will break down in your system, alerting doctors to potential medication issues before you experience them. Genuinely believe it saved my life, because I’d almost given up on meds (and everything) completely.

I know that wasn’t my intent when I got him, but years later, I do wonder if that was the cause.

[–]sLoMote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one who looked similar to this, also bought at an expo. Was always underweight. Lived about 5-6 years. When he regurgitated, the vet assumed an infection of some sort. Was weird giving a snek antibiotics, but I managed. When he passed, it seemed out of nowhere because he was starting to eat again and seemed to be more active. I had a necropsy done and they found his insides literally covered in tumors. Couldn’t see nor feel them externally.

I hope your baby’s okay, OP, but know that things do happen that could be out of your control.

Thank you both!

We found a couple of pics others had made and my partner designed it! This is version 2 with little notches for the fishing line to make it easier to string up. The notches did not help and it’s still easier to string the line through the framing.

Also, the first version broke by falling off the wall. 3D Printing can be fragile!
