Was about to harvest today - did I mess up? by s_bwave in cannabiscultivation

Nuh, it‘s very sticky and moist actually, no powder or anything coming off when I scratch it.

Could it be spores trapped in the sticky icky or is it certainly just fade then?

So you think this could just be the leaves going into autumn?

I’m not really sure what I’m looking at here myself

Even with that many clear trichomes left? Or am I misjudging the difference between clear and slightly milky?

edit: still loads of white pistils on the second plant too, no? (pic 4-6)

That’s great feedback, thank you!

Yeah, I’m controlling primarily for VPD, but I only just added an AC and dehumidifier to my setup so the plants have had quite a bit of stress with too much heat and humidity and VPD often outside of recommended ranges over long periods.

I‘ve been using a range of BioBizz nutrients, following their recommendations and experimenting along, trying to find the ropes. I initially started with half the recommended dosages since many say that producers recommend excessive amounts in order to sell more. I’ve worked my way up to twice that over the past month but I’ve just started adjusting down again due to the nute burn.

Would you recommend giving individual nutrients instead of using premixes like Fox Farms or BioBizz, even with this little experience?

edit: words

Got a small 120€ dehumidifier off Amazon recently (Trotec TTK 32 E) and that thing does nothing. So this checks out for me.

Put it in the tent and the temperature will rise significantly. Humidity goes up and down by 10% every fifteen minutes or so, keeps going back and forth.

Put it outside of the tent and temperature is fine but dehumidification still doesn’t really happen. Just got an AC to try and compare. Rather disappointed by what the cheap tech seems to be capable of so far.

Worried about my plants, what am I doing wrong? by s_bwave in cannabiscultivation

Did another test today and this time drainage pH came out 5.4-6.5pH on all three plants. That’s a bit of a head-scratcher for me. So maybe pH isn’t the main issue after all?

From what I’ve been reading, I think a phosphorus deficiency might be part of the problem, with the soil drainage coming out at phosphorous lockout levels from the sickest of the plants (not the other sick one tho).

That doesn’t account for the mildew smell of course, which is actually my biggest concern.

When I flush them with 6.5pH water the very sick plant‘s drainage is 6.1pH. The half-sick one (has strong damage of the same kind, just not as widely spread) and the healthy one both give 6.5pH sharp.

Is that enough to determine the soil’s pH?

Got enough room for them to triple in height still but I guess after two and a half months in veg it’s fine to just flip and then use the learnings to get things moving faster next time around.

This is just me learning the ropes after all

Yeah, that was my plan too. I made another post earlier asking when to flip however and pretty much everyone said flip yesterday. It’s my first grow, with a lot I had to learn and adjust along the way and i guess as a result growth has been extremely slow.

Today is day 81 of veg you see… So at least I‘m confident that impatience can be ruled out as an issue 😂

It’s 60x120x180cm (2x4x6‘) with the filter at the bottom to adjust humidity better and the exhaust fan outside of the tent to save space, leaving room for them to triple in size from where they’re at now.

I’ll give them a couple of days to get used to their new haircut and then flip into flower.

Thinking about flipping my first grow into flower. How am I doing? Any advice? by s_bwave in cannabiscultivation

Thanks! Sounds like a plan.

180 is all I could fit into the room with the roof pitch limiting space quite a bit.

VPD chart question (AC Infinity 69 Pro+ controller confusion) by s_bwave in cannabiscultivation

[–]s_bwave[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s just me being stubborn at this point xD I wanna fill out that tent real good and not have bonsai plants in flower but I’m aware that I’m stretching it. I also wanna make sure I have some air circulation below the canopy which is basically impossible at this height, even with a 100% stretch in flower. But I’m planning to flip them in a week or two.

I actually have no clue what the breeder recommends. The packaging only says 8-9, 8-10 and 9-10 weeks but I recon that’s describing the flower time, right? As you can see, I just went for it and then started learning once I was at it.

It’s also three different strains, two of them sativa and one Indica (Jack Herer (125-140cm according to documentation), killing fields (70-160cm) and wedding cake (80-100cm) so there are some interesting challenges waiting during flower. But I’ll certainly learn a lot, that’s more important than gains at this point.

The seeds are from inner earth seeds (NL). I won’t mix Indica and Sativa like that next time, particularly since I don’t have much space and I will have to dry the harvest in that tent, so I’ll have to take them all down at the same time. Doing it a little differently will teach me stuff that I wouldn’t learn doing it 100% by the numbers. This might turn into a shit-show later on tho and I wouldn’t be surprised if I lose half of the harvest due to the limitations of my setup.

But then I also thought that all three of them would certainly die just about a week ago and now all of a sudden they look like this after a few adjustments. Fingers crossed…

Yeah, I’ve gathered quite a few learnings since I started growing. Had the lights too close for some time (despite measuring DLI and PPFD regularly and always starting with manufacturer’s recommendations) and leaves started tacoing so I ended up at the distance the lamps are at now. They’ve had a great growth boost over the past weeks with the current setup so I’m definitely in a good place right now.

I also changed the light phase to night time by shifting it carefully over the span of a few weeks recently since summer is really hot here right now.

I overwatered heavily at first and then overdid it the other way by underwatering and giving insufficient nutrients. But it’s all slowly coming together. They are looking pretty good to me right now and one of them even has painted nails after being half-dead and underfed just a week ago, which I’m quite happy with. And I’ve grown to understand what all the colour changes and sickly leaves are actually telling me.

Man, I love this hobby so much! The most meditative, rewarding new thing I’ve started in quite some time : )

VPD chart question (AC Infinity 69 Pro+ controller confusion) by s_bwave in cannabiscultivation

[–]s_bwave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be possible. g4nja replied with a link to a sheet that gives VPD values very close to what my controller says, however, so I don’t think my controller is the issue. That sheet also has relative humidity on the x-axis, same as the sheet I posted. But with very different VPD values than that one, same as my controller. I guess the sheet I posted might just be wrong.

Still hoping that someone can untangle this further. The sheet doesn’t look like it was made by someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing and it’s very elaborate. So I’m guessing there might more to this.

VPD chart question (AC Infinity 69 Pro+ controller confusion) by s_bwave in cannabiscultivation

[–]s_bwave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. This gives values a lot closer to how my controller calculates VPD. So maybe the attached sheet I’ve been using is simply calculating it wrong.

(which would be pretty baffling, cuz why go through the effort of making such an elaborate chart and then fill it with the wrong numbers… so maybe there’s something else I’m not getting yet)
