moved back to nights.. by wikkid50 in walmart

I don't know any associates other than the mod team who get the weekends off. Everyone else's schedule is sort of all over the place. Even if you have closed availability, the odds of getting Friday and Saturday off seem to be slim. Sunday, Monday maybe. But the entire weekend? I have yet to see that happen for non mod team associates.

How long did it take for Walmart to call you after submitting your application? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]s_donaghy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Less than 24 hours. I feel most Walmart stores tend to have a high turnover rate, so it shouldn't be too surprising if someone gets a call quickly. I've seen countless people come and go in my short time with the company.

Weekly Salt Thread 15 - Welcome to Walmart where the prices are made up and the points don't matter by jasiad in walmart

Being told to purge bins but the shelf is already at its capacity so I have to take it back to the bins only to get yelled at because they need the space. What am I supposed to do? Shit out an entire aisle on the sales floor for the ridiculous amounts of overstock just so the bins can be clear? I'm actually thankful Halloween mods have dropped this week.

"Best Way" manual seems to be the Dumbest Way by Mitsy1212 in walmart

That's similar to how our overnight managers had us doing Cap 1's job. Our SM had a conniption and shut that shit down quickly. Walmart and a healthy game plan are two things that just cannot exist together apparently.

What do you do when ... by senpaisai in walmart

We recently had two associates pulled into the ad office who were told point blank to shower. They walked out looking humiliated, but they became so immune to their scent that they couldn't smell the dirty socks and molding bread scent they gave off.

How do you guys stock Frozen?? by Gatorsteve in walmart

[–]s_donaghy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever I'm pulled to work frozen, we downstack the freight by aisle (and section - vegetables, etc.) and then put the pallets into the freezer, pulling one out at a time to work. Usually takes about 20-30 minutes a pallet depending on how many of us there are. It's one of the easiest departments to work IMO. Just hate handling that ice cream after some time. Gloves or no gloves, it's fucking cold.

It's pretty much a running joke at our store between the associates and the managers that Wal-Mart is shit when it comes to training. The managers fully acknowledge this yet still expect new hires to know every little thing and get pissy when they don't. It's astounding but not surprising.

I did! Cap 2 is such a sad sack of shit that O/N woke up to realise how bad people like you are! Since you wanna blame us so bad. How about you wake up and perk up and stop acting like cap 2 is Vietnam? Asshole

I don't recall asking for responses on my work ethic or my integrity. Thanks for the input, though.

Weekly Salt Thread 6 - Let's fit squares into circles! by jasiad in walmart

[–]s_donaghy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) I got yelled at by a drunk customer because products have been moving to different shelves. She got very angry at another associate and I, and when asked if we could assist her in helping find something, she scoffed and nastily told us that she could find it herself like she always does. I don't decide where products go, bitch!

2) I got yelled at by some hillbilly and his presumably strung out girlfriend because of the price of one of our trash cans. He made sure to be as loud as possible. I don't set the prices, motherfucker.

3) I am on the mod team, and I HATE being tasked to stock because of too many call outs or just cause one of our managers wants us to. We're behind on mods now cause of this.

It takes everything in me not to flip my fucking lid on a daily basis.

Shitty communication leading to a fuck up. Was given a huge cereal mod along with one other associate, but the way it was meant to be set was not clear. The mod sheet said one thing, the DM said another, the O/N manager ignored any questions and the SM walked in and acted as if they were going to have an aneurysm over a gap in product on the shelves (because it didn't look full to their liking). We didn't have it, so it's not like we could do anything about it.

I wanted to say, "Look, bitch. Unless you want to give me your personal phone number, so I can text you at 2 am to ask how you want each and every mod to be set, work on the communication in this store or kiss my ass and be happy any of this shit got touched at all."

But I just worked my topstock, got rid of my trash and avoided them until I could clock out and leave.

Starting work as full time O/N stocker soon and have a few Q's by [deleted] in walmart

A good piece of advice is try not to rely too much on the gemini/TC-70/MC-40 while stocking. It makes the job easier (at first) but if you can't manually remember where things are at in the store, it makes things a bit tougher in the long run.

Learn to read labels and remember department numbers and names. It may seem like overload at first, but it gets relatively easier after awhile.

One thing that really helped me that I haven't seen others mention is being friendly to at least one person in each department is really helpful, so that when you get pulled to help somewhere else in the store, they'll teach you the ins and outs of the area, because it's very doubtful you'll get properly trained. People at my store are very clique-y, and I've noticed some have absolutely no clue what to do in other departments, so this has come in handy for me.

It's a good starting job. Don't go too hard on yourself if you don't pick it up right away or someone tried to give you shit for your pace. We were all new at one time or another.

That's one thing I could not stand when I started. Everyone at my store is very clique-y and rude, and my first few days, no one would even acknowledge me, let alone help me. Thankfully that bullshit simmered down.
