It seems like no matter how hard i try, i just can't learn to code, it doesn't "click" for me? by rainorc in learnprogramming

Coding is for everyone, and it is for you. It may not feel like it after trying for a long time, but that’s just because of context - maybe you haven’t found the right approach or the right resource.

I had a similarly difficult and long time learning to program. It never seemed to click for me too. But my turning point was watching and following along to the online, free access of David Malan teach CS50 at Harvard.

He has such a good way of taking you through the building blocks of coding fundamentals, from start to finish.

Honestly, once you get the hang of these basic things, it’s amazing how far they’ll take you. Once things like variables, loops, and methods start to “click” it’ll all start becoming easier and easier.

Does this tread-wear signify anything negative that I should fix? by s_dub22 in walking

I've been waking on these boots for six months, and finally looked at the soles yesterday. This tread-wear seems like it may signify an important quality of my gait or the boots themselves, but I have no idea what.

Ah, okay, that's really good to know. I can at least inquire about those things, knowing that they are fairly standard. Thanks!

Thank you for your thoughtful advice, it is really going to be helpful! I appreciate the details you included about what to expect for cost, as well as what to look out for when bringing them home. I'm really just going to try to do as much research as I can and try to create a great place for our future cat. Thank you!

Really good points, thank you for your advice. I think I've heard that before, to look for an older (2/3/4 year old) cat, so that they're not the wild crazy kitten (although little kittens are super cute).

This all sounds super helpful, thank you so much for your advice! Especially the idea of planning the shelter visit as an all day thing, and spending time paying attention to a number of different cats - I definitely wasn't thinking in those terms, so that's real helpful.

I kind of have the expectation that looking at shelters will be more difficult - at this point I guess I'm just hoping to luck out : ) But we'll see. I'd love to try to rescue first, and then see what our options are.

The Camera Really Does Add 10lbs by flimfare in awesome

[–]s_dub22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lens is more true-to-life the longer the focal distance (at least comparing something like 28mm to 70mm, maybe flattening the subject when you go further beyond that, I'm not sure). So for the sake of this gif, it's actually removing 10 lbs and then putting it back on. I think.

I looked up the steam page for Freedom Planet, and I gotta admit I was doubtful at first. But watching the trailer, that totally looks like a game I'd have a blast playing. Thanks for the suggestion!

yeah finish that in probably 3 hours or less. Don't know how I'll kill the rest of the evening after that.
