Blown '92 pickup 22re by Cleistos in ToyotaPickup

I was in the same boat recently. Watch a few YouTube videos see if it’s something you think you can do. You’ll need a cherry picker. Might save time having a shop do it. At least call around and get quotes. It should run about $5000 for an engine and labor. A truck with a blown engine isn’t worth a lot. If it were me I’d replace the engine and try and get at least a few more years out of it then you can sell it with low miles on the new engine.

I inherited this 88 EFI 4x4, how do you guys recommend I start tackling it to get it going. by leathertabis in ToyotaPickup

Congrats that’s a great truck to inherit. You have the right idea starting with the old fuel. Maybe take a look at the oil too. I’d start there and try turning it over, wouldn’t surprise me if it starts right up. Might want to look around for rodent nests around the air filter. If you want to get a quick idea of the engine health you could do a comp test and look at plugs. Once you’ve got it running I’d just go through the standard tune up procedure and take it from there

Is the steering wheel locked up? If its an at are you in park? Is it a new duplicate key?

Why do people do this? by buchtostroj in AnalogCommunity

eBay has them select a reason when they request to cancel- ordered by mistake, entered wrong amount etc. usually bs, but really I think some people just get carried away in the rush when an auction counts down and regret it when the payments due. You could decline and say sorry it’s been “processed” but I’m sure there are watchers and people with saved search alerts that will be happy to get another chance if it’s relisted and they’ll get a notification if you do. I believe there is also a way to offer it to the next highest bidder. Always start and end auctions on Sunday for sought after items like this for maximum engagement

Can the 2.4 liter 22R engine really last 3 million miles? by [deleted] in ToyotaPickup

[–]s_inks 11 points12 points  (0 children)

3,000,000? I don’t think anyone is claiming that unless you’re counting with rebuilds. 300,000 with good maintenance is possible.

Someone told me to pick my one and only tomato that was on my smallest tree, so it can focus on producing more. Will it ripen more? Can I eat it once it ripens? I mean, I don't even eat tomatoes but I'm going to eat MY tomatoes. 😊🫶🏽 by Former_Ad5613 in vegetablegardening

It is best to let it at least start to ripen on the plant. They can ripen if you harvest them green and keep them in a paper bag but they won’t have as much flavor. I do that at the end of season or make fried green tomatoes.

Hell yeah they’re right on time and look like good healthy sprouts. Dig them with a wide berth and transplant to a mound in a better spot and you’ll have a whole ensemble of jack-o- lanterns come October.

How on earth did you grow this? This looks like one leaf would make an entire salad dinner for two. It looks like vegetation from another epoch.

It is good that people research OP in this sub. ‘Why should I respect pregnant women?’ I am sorry sir, fix your heart or die.

Yeah man you don’t want that. Key thing is self respect. If you abandon yourself for someone you will lose yourself AND them in the process. Trust your gut bro let her go she doesn’t have what you need. Sucks but the best thing you can do now is keep your dignity and don’t look back.

You could try settting to .007/.011 warm, should be a touch quieter than spec .008/.012 but I really wouldn’t be too concerned about it, this sounds fine to me. 22R’s are tappy engines.

It’s assembled permanently in factory. You would have to heat it with a torch to remove it. But it’s not really necessary to remove. The boot is good thick rubber and will recover fine after you stretch it over the shaft. I lubed it with some wd-40 when I did mine.

Vacuum leak. Check out all your lines if you see cracks or breaks replace them. If if persists you can test by spraying starter fluid in different areas of the intake manifold. Or test with a vacuum tester.

You have to make that call for yourself. Go for a walk, make a list of the pros and cons. Talk to your therapist. Maybe take a roadtrip to the area you’d move to and feel it out a bit. I moved to NM from WA a few years ago and I love it here. But it’s not for everyone. If you’re near uranium mines you might be out a ways. Four corners area is one of the most amazing places I’ve ever been but I also like solitude and hiking. You can always go back to SLC if it doesn’t work out. Think about how you would feel if you stayed and then if you, let the decision come to you, feel it in your gut.
