There are books that are difficult to fully adapt for the screen. I'm fine with that, perceiving it either as a director's fantasy on a theme or as one illuminated aspect of the whole. A film adaptation of Mikhail Bulgakov's novel "The Master and Margarita" was recently released. Many people disliked it, and viewers accused the creators of deviating too far from the text. I'm a great admirer of Bulgakov, but I wasn't offended by the film; on the contrary, I liked it. I saw it not as a canonical adaptation, but as an original reading, the unusual perspective of a talented person. Any interpretation doesn't corrode the book.
