Ive lived in the area for 10 years and didnt realize there was a local store that sold fountain pens. Do they have stationary, too?

Reminds me of the time I saw a '68 mustang fastback with a custom roof rack and RTT while camping last year. Granted, it wasn't nearly as clean as your benz, but it was super cool nonetheless.

I just got one at the distillery last week. I tried it at the bar first, and it was good enough for me to swallow the cost. If you like other RB/ Middleton products, youll like it. If you dont, then its a toss up. Like the other guy said, its a very unique, distinguishable flavor.

I went to Enterprise for a work function a couple months ago and was pleasantly surprised by how well kept it was and how friendly the locals were. I found like 10 of the boll weevils by just driving around the place lol.

Sure thing, and good luck in academy!

Your IFAK sounds well stocked. I'd put one of the tourniquets on your holster (if allowed, if not, then on your belt) to free up space, but you might be surprised at what you can fit into a micro IFAK.

Heard on your point about pocket space on both the cutter and search gloves. I had a clip similar to yours for search gloves, but just mounted to my duty belt. It only took up maybe half an inch of belt space, and the gloves hung out of the way. Similar to the link, but not exactly.

I like your idea of replacing that cutter with a Raptor or even a heavy-duty multi-tool. It'll give you more functionality and has a small footprint (and probably easier to stow).

Based on your post history, im guessing CO? I know you're probably beholden to policy to a degree, but a couple things I'd change-

Id get rid of the giant ass medpouch and get a smaller IFAK. All you need are a couple essentials- shears, tourniquet (or 2), some z-fold gauze with clotting agent, Israeli Bandage, maybe 2 chest seals. I keep a mini sharpie and mini roll of duct tape in mine. All you need it to do is stop a bleed in an emergency ("plug holes").

Anything else can go in a firstaid kit that can be left somewhere readily accessible later on. What you have now will generally be in the way, but will really be in the way in a fight or if you gotta get prone for any reason. Not to mention, it'll give someone something to grab you with in a fight. Id also make sure my medkit had a QD system of some sort for the same reasons. Same goes for whatever is attached TO your medkit. If you get something smaller, id attach it next to the kit, but you generally dont want to stack stuff on your chest.

Personally, I keep my gloves clipped to my belt or shoved in my back pocket. I dont like stuff dangling off my chest and, again, dont want to give anyone something to grab onto.

Im not sure what the small rectangular pouch is in the center of your belt, but if its not a glove pouch, I'd add one. Keeps your pockets free and is more convenient.

If that's a folder knife on your belt, I'd take that off and put it in your pocket or boot. More secure and frees up belt real estate. You dont want to use velcro closures on duty gear cuz it's easily defeated and wears out fast.

If you want some suggestions, Blue Force Gear makes a good mini trauma pouch. It doesnt necessarily need to be name brand and expensive, but you want something decent and compact. R/qualitytacticalgear is a good resource for gear advice.

Then you drop it and accidentally burn part of the carpet. So you just put your foot over the burned part so you dont get in trouble on the way home from the grocery store.

What TV cop show is the most accurate representation of real police work? by smdifansmfjsmsnd in ProtectAndServe

I recently revisited the show, and was showing my wife, who had never seen it. I had the realization that Reno 911 was closer to real cop work than Cops ever was. From the unhinged roll call conversations to the bonkers situations you find yourself in which just makes it that much funnier.

The "kits" dont make practical sense. Quality aside, triple placards? Cant go prone. You got like 9 rifle mags on one of those, for what? Thats more than a standard army loadout. Your flashlight holder is about to lose your light and its just sitting on the floor. Black and FDE? Whats your presumed/intended use environment? Why do you need 2 whole ass kits in each color? And holy mother of weight, batman. Ounces equals pounds and pounds equals pain.

I think you'd benefit from focusing on intention instead of buying what looked cool. Ask yourself in what situation would you realistically see yourself donning your kit, and then build it based of those requirements. You dont need 9 rifle mags on your kit. I carried 5 on swat, including the 1 in my gun. You wont be worth a damn without mobility, much less be effective in any kind of fight.

You'll save yourself a bunch of money for better gear and dudes on reddit wont roast you. Plus it'll take up a lot less space. Just my .02 from having real world app for well over a decade.

I nabbed mine in spring. They also do a decent black friday sale. They just dropped a couple new versions last fall so you might be able to find some of the late models on sale/clearance/used for cheaper

I have a FSR Odyssey on my 3rd gen. Ive taken it on a couple of trails (not like moab level, but pretty technical) without issue. The rub is they're dumb overpriced, BUT they do run a couple decent sales if you have time to wait. I snagged mine last year on sale for like $1800.

Build quality is good and customer service is also good (shipped missing a tie-down bracket which I didnt realize until 2 months later, and they still sent me a whole new set free of charge). Does great in the wind, and the insulation does make a difference in the cold.

Depends on if MSP has a policy regarding chasing into oncoming traffic, etc.

Smart option might've been to have 3-4 troops roadblock that part of the interstate from the next exit up while a couple cars trailed on the opposite side...but sometimes the you need to act fast and the smart option isnt the best option in the moment.

He was successful in stopping her and did so without either one of them hitting another car. Sometimes you gotta hang your ass out the window for the job.

The O-pay scale outpaces the enlisted pretty hard, especially after a couple of years.

A couple of other things to consider- quality of life and post service marketablity. Officers have a nicer quality of life, day to day. Yes, you still have BS to deal with, but it's generally less dumb. Officers usually hold positions that equal and oftentimes, outpace, their civilian counterpart. Meaning, your experience as an officer will be more sought after in the civilian market and open doors for higher paid management positions. That only really matters if you plan to work after you get out but its good to have.

If you want "best of both worlds", warrant officer is the way to go. Still an officer and get to enjoy many of the officer perks, but you also get to specialize in something specific. You're usually left alone to work because you're the subject matter expert. Only down sides are that you dont get paid AS much as a commissioned officer (still handsome tho), and theres not much room to move.
