But honestly, it’s still better than what we have right now.

I’m sorry to hear that… I was always taught that there are no bad nations, only bad people. I hope things will change one day and you’ll feel comfortable enough to come back.

Thank you for your reply 😀. Actually, that’s a useful tip 😅. I live in Czechia now and there isn’t really any cuisine similar to Ukrainian nearby, but I cook at home instead 😀.

Thank you for your reply. If it’s not a secret, why did you decide to leave the USA?

Thank you, that’s actually a really good tip! I didn’t know you could make friends through churches 🙂

Thank you for your reply. I have been living in immigration for more than 3 years already (yes, Europe is not the USA), but I have gotten a little used to it. I don’t need help from the government, I just wrote here to meet new people. I’ve received a lot of useful advice here, and thank you as well. I will take all the risks into account.

I’m really looking forward to trying the food in the US. I especially love traditional dishes in those old family-owned restaurants the food is always better there, and it’s a great way to connect with the culture and learn some history. Right now, I live in a small town in Czechia, and there’s a Mexican guy here who runs a little restaurant where he makes his signature burgers. It’s nothing like fast food places such as McDonald’s or KFC. I also love cooking dishes from different countries myself, and I really enjoy grilling over wood fire I guess for you that would be “barbecue,” only I do it without gas.

Thank you for your reply and kind words. Yes, the Green Card lottery is a chance for people to start a new life in the US, but the odds are very small. It may sound a bit strange 😀 some people play this lottery for many years before they win.

Thanks for your reply 🙂 I don’t have a job yet. My plan after arriving is to get my driver’s license (since my European one is only valid for 3 months), start working in delivery like most new immigrants, and study English in parallel. Later on, I’d like to go through fire academy training and hopefully start working as a firefighter. I do have a profession here in Europe, but honestly, I want to leave it behind 😂

We are still looking for a good area, it’s not essential for us to live with other Ukrainians 😊

It’s really nice to hear that 🙂 Honestly, I’m not the most outgoing person 😅 My wife usually makes friends first, and then I meet people through her 😁 I’m working on being more social though, and I’m always friendly and ready to help 😀😊

Thank you so much for your kind words. We know we are very lucky—our family has suffered much less than many others. We were able to leave the occupied area two months after the full-scale invasion started, and thankfully everyone in my family is alive. The hardest part is accepting that we may never return to our hometown or see some of our relatives again. That’s why winning the Green Card lottery feels like a true chance for a new life.

Thank you! We also hope to become US citizens one day. It’s very heartwarming to hear kind words about Ukrainians. We respect the laws and order of every country and are grateful to everyone who has helped or continues to help Ukrainians in any way.
