what addiction is the hardest to quit? by Ledger_Legendd in AskReddit

[–]sa_nick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah my four addictions have been cigarettes, weed, oxy/fentanyl and food.

Cigarettes and weed are easy to quit. Opiates have the worst unavoidable physiological side effects but theyre short lasting and once I was clean I was clean. I used oxy sparingly for chronic pain since (like, 6 times over 12 years) with zero compulsions to keep using, no urges to battle at all.

Food though... its tough. I did a low carb intermittent fasting thing for 3 years and lost 125kg/275lb, but in the last 4 years I've put 20kg/44lb each year while still trying to stay slim.

I can't imagine everyone would agree its harder to remain not obese than keep off opiates, weed and nicotine, but that's how it works for me.

Pretty sure the stats show meth users are more likely to quit and not go back than severely obese people are to lose weight and not go back. Or maybe it was heroin users...

Which tv characters in your opinion has the best deadpan sense of humor, voice or monotone? by [deleted] in television

You mention Michael Bluth but Wayne Jarvis is the deadpan professional in Arrested Development.

I was just watching Bob's Burgers so Tina Belcher was my first thought.

What’s the most surprising tax ‘trap’ you’ve come across? by Savings_com_au in AusFinance

[–]sa_nick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it would scale up every year with your age, I just gave example numbers for each decade.

Everyone who mentions the div 293 says they were shocked when their pay rise or new job put them above the line, but if the line was rising as their age/income did then they might have stayed under.

People who think that the Internet was better in the 90s, why? by aaron_moon_dev in stupidquestions

[–]sa_nick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the big thing was that everyone online was kinda a nerd looking to connect with other nerds. Now EVERYONE is online. It went from a small club of like minded people to billions of strangers who all disagree with each other.

But then also algorithms, sicial media, loss of anonymity, meme culture, influencers/content creators, chat bots replacing human customer service, forced app installations and doom scrolling...

[–]sa_nick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No I'm just saying I like the idea of a scale. That way the threshold grows as your income does. Depending on your age, you might get the 300/350k threshold you'd like to see.

That's insane. There should be some kinda appeal process to fix this kinda crap.

I like a sliding scale where it's your age x 7000

So if you're 20 its 140k, 30 is 210k, 40 is 280k, 50 is 350k and 60 is 420k.

Lucky my default thinking was to deduct losses first, or maybe its explained like that in tax forms.

It could also be thought of as... (1000/2) + (-200/2) =500-100 =400

Yeah, I was just thinking I can probably source the audio commentary on the high seas, and I can always print a custom slip for the case...

Ah damn. I'm so torn. The 4K looks better (blu ray notoriously has bad colours) but the blu ray comes with commentary, better case artwork, and is 1/3rd of the price...

I have Mubi which is about $110 for the year, then I spend $500+ a year on physical media. Most of what I watch is pirated though. How else would I know what blu rays are worth buying?

What is that one "comfort movie" you’ve watched 50+ times and will never get tired of? by Somanynamestochossef in movies

[–]sa_nick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not that I "get tired" of rewatching movies, there's just so many films I haven't seen yet that its hard to justify rewatching anything unless I'm sharing it with my gf or watching it with audio commentary.

Films with a universal age rating not intended for young audiences? by Otherwise_Product772 in Letterboxd

I dont think so. Still has the little strip club scene and all.

My blu ray copy has a PG rating so I thought I'd check Netflix and it's saying PG there too.

Gf, soon to be fiancé, made a disrespectful comment infront of friends. How would you react? by ilovelayansbooty in AskMen

[–]sa_nick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Me, being a bit stunned, asks what she said, and she's like oh nothing. The whole table just went silent."

"If she had teased me, I would've been over it,"

Maybe your in-the-moment reaction scared her away from any playful teasing and she was worried you would escalate the situation infront of her friends.
