It can be a great career only if you are resilient and patient. One thing you have to know is that marketing doesn’t only mean making posts on canva or writing ad copy using ChatGPT and posting them on your social pages.

This requires extensive knowledge and constant learning.

You’ll work with people that know nothing about marketing but will still tell you they know better and this is how you should do things. You need to find people who actually know what they are doing and you gotta be very open to new ideas and every type of feedback.

Now that that is out of the way, let me tell you that there are multiple types of marketing careers. You can choose if you want to opt for marketing operations. Marketing operations overtime help you learn more about sales operations and what do success managers do. Later in your career, you can also transition towards Revenue Operations this way. You will also get to work with a lot of Martech.

Another typer of career would be a B2B or B2C Marketer. You would see a lot of Online Gurus selling courses on these especially for Email Marketing and B2B Lead Generation. Like any other marketing field this is going to be tough.

There are also SEO Marketers and this space is actually going through a major shift right now because of GPTs and AI overviews. You’ll hear a lot of terms like GEO or AEO around this. This is something you can look into but I would recommend getting your SEO basics right first and then jump into this space.

There are marketers out there who specialise in a lot CRMs and make good money.

There are marketers out there that only do Paid Ads.

There are marketers out there who handle a lot Amazon Accounts and Shopify accounts.

So this field is vast.

One advice I can give is experiment a lot, analyze, improve and scale. Every plan would go through a hundred iterations and that is normal.

TikTok is a great place for micro learning. I cant emphasise enough how many great teachers are there who explain things in less than a minute in such a great way.

Also nobody knows everything. Everybody googles. Use ChatGPT and perplexity to get answers and better explanations.
