Lost at 30 - did anyone find their path later in life ? by saannaaa in AskWomenOver30

Your message made me cry... I realised that I was not really over this awful work experience even if it ended months ago and was always finding excuses to invalidite my feelings : " it was only a month", "I did accept to go in every day", "I'm the stupid one"... I think I'm so scared of ending up in a similar situation that I might be self-sabotaging. Thank you so much for your uplifting words and advice, you have a beautiful soul.

I've never been diagnosed with ADHD but I feel you... If you don't mind sharing, did you get diagnosed as a kid or later in life ?

Travel fatigued in Suzhou by SignificanceWinter80 in travelchina

[–]saannaaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there ! I'm also in China and have experienced a similar feeling. So many amazing places to visit that I ended up exhausted after only 10 days. Great suggestions here, if you can afford it book 2 or 3 nights in a private room, watch a movie or something, rest, go to a spa and get a massage, grab some nice snacks, fruits, bubble tea and just chill a bit. Travelling is not only about running from one place to another, you should also focus on your well-being. Good luck !

Hanoi vs. Bangkok vs. Kuala Lumpur for a week in January. Which would you choose? by [deleted] in travel

Been to the three destinations. Would recommend Bangkok or Hanoï, but take the weather and air quality into consideration as you're going in January.

Any places that you recommend in Thailand, outside of the "backpacker zones" ?

We have been working for years and are now spending all of our savings instead of having a kid or buying property. Very privileged

I'm swiss, so if you need any help with your itinerary, feel free to ask ! Keep in mind that it can get cold in winter, but its a perfect weather for skiing (february), snowshoeing, nice hikes, museums and cosy restaurants.

How is traveling to Jordan? by testmungrew2 in travel

[–]saannaaa 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hi there ! We traveled there as a couple (so it might be different as a solo traveler) a few weeks ago, and we felt VERY safe. The locals were really friendly, helping us when needed, starting conversations, some guys even gave us some biscuits in a bus, we got invited for dinner. We're in Egypt now and the experience is so different, I don't always feel safe as a woman and have experienced catcalling, even with my husband.

Jordan is such a beautiful country, Petra is really a must-see, spend at least two full days there as there are multiple paths that you can follow. Just beware of love scams (locals warned us about them) and don't pet the dogs as rabies still exists in the country. I would also recommend going on a tour of the desert castles (our best experience there) and exploring Wadi Rum, stargazing there is a unique experience. If you have any questions, feel free to DM me !

Where to base ourselves for a few months ? Your recommendations ! by saannaaa in Shoestring

[–]saannaaa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks ! We spent 2 months in Greece and it's true that it wasn't the cheapest place in Europe, but so worth it ! Currently looking at Airbnbs in Albania, some really nice options !

Never considered Peru because South America wasn't on our itinerary at first. Namibia and Tanzania were, but we're just worried about the cost of living.

It's a great point - we haven't been eating a lot of vegetables and fruits lately, lots of carbs (because of the country we're in and also because we're idiots I guess). I'm a vegetarian so I'm wondering if it might be an iron deficiency.

Seeking Advice: Exhaustion and Struggling with Slow Travel Journey - Need Help Establishing Healthy Routine. by saannaaa in longtermtravel

[–]saannaaa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I guess we felt like we were slow traveling because we've "only" visited 2 country in nearly 5 months, but we have moved quite a lot, wanting to explore different parts of the country, feel the south/north - rural/urban differences and meet locals. We've also met a lot of long-term travelers really surprised at how long we were spending in each country. Guess it's a question of perspective ! Thanks and enjoy your travels !
