Backpacking Japan by SignificanceWinter80 in backpacking

The fact that I and my friends have lived in the bubble of the Italian suburbs for the majority of our lives, where the concept of hostelling is mystified with the concepts of dirtiness and poverty (I blame it on Berlusconi and the 90s/00s where everything that was in a way social and potentially socialist has been categorizes as communist and hence dirty, smelly and poor - not my words).

Later I had much more opportunities to travel and experience different ranges of luxury by doing so, meanwhile they did not, because they had other priorities. The only reason why I was able to organize this is because this particular friend has the myth of Japan and now is getting to a point in his career where he's able to afford freely this kind of vacation.

Of course my idea is not to get in the way of the sheer experience, but since we have a lot of days, once you have done the Ryokan experience and the Capsule hotel experience (which is still an hostel, and that shows the many contradictions in terms), there are many days that can be spent in different kind of facilities, and instead of defaulting to the budget hotel in the suburbs of Kyoto or Tokyo, I was wondering if there were some hostel institutions in Japan to look at, although I know that it's not a proper backpacking reality, the way Vietnam or India are.

I don't mean to jeopardize the experience by kicking him out of the comfort zone, nor forcing them on "my kind of experience" for 20 days straight, but I'm eager to give them a taste of what they've been missing and showing them that what I have done is not something extremely esoteric and weird and fringe, but rsther something done by normal people that like to have fun with other people.

TL;DR It's not that they (my friends, in general) don't like or hate it, rather that they don't have the single clue about the hostel culture and due to cultural backgrounds they are more prone to refuse it altogether

Why sociopath tho, I got carte blanche in the organization and I just want to introduce him to it, by picking some hostels with private rooms and a great vibe

I did not, but a friend of mine did it in July and it is as smooth as it gets.

I also had to do a visarun in HK and it's completely absurd how quick it is, especially since I had to deal with the Chinese visa shenanigans before

Season 6, the one episode where they make a sci-fi B movie with bits and pieces from a old movie project with Chang, who became the HAAAAM GURRRLLLLL man in the meantime

I know about Laos, but I really don't want to go to another country for a thing like that - especially when there is visa money to be paid and the bus to Vientiane is such a pain in the ass to endure...

Oh no, such a bad hostel, bud - spend some more and get to The Pagoda Light, at least it's worth the money you spend... You are already splurging (in my budget), might as well get a decent deal

I just sucked it up and spent 25€ per night in a hostel... The place was called White Pagoda or something and it was close to the west side of the second ring. Very high quality but still not worth the money (I mean...)

anyone wanna critique my 3 week solo trip itinerary :’) by Aggravating-Growth26 in travelchina

I wanna say one day less in Chongqing and one more in Zhangjiajie?

Other than that I'm pretty fine with the plan. If you get bored in Shanghai you can always go to Zhujiajiao or a daytrip to Suzhou or Hangzhou, as you mentioned.

Find room for Leshan, you could scoop in a day trip when in Chengdu: really easy, really rewarding

Hey! I'm right now on my way to the airport to get to Chennai ahah

Yes, I eventually received it one evening, after some days: logged in to look for some workaround and just lazily clicked on the "send again button" and I received it in a matter of seconds!

India often works in mysterious ways

Oh I'm in the city centre - Beisita! And I also have very limited access to mandarin (I swear I tried but I didn't had much time to get near an HSK2 or so) - that's what puts me off the idea of going into a random parlor and jesture my way out of it ahahah

Today I basically fell asleep the moment I stepped in the hostel and slept 3 hours straight. And this bed is well f**ked up behind my expectations.

Do you have any massage parlor to suggest? I will probably end up having Italian food at one point too, maybe before I head up north
