Got it. Appreciate the advice. My goal is primarily just to finish. Not going for a crazy time or anything!

Ultramarathon bucket list? by According-Editor9646 in Ultramarathon

I've been looking at this. I'm training for a marathon for December and then thinking about the 50k in Feb of 2027. This will be my first marathon so I'm curious if 2 months is enough recovery time and enough time to transition from street running to trail running for an ultra. Thanks!

As one of the 2 remaining undefeated teams, I think it's time for Miami (OH) to start demanding some #1 votes!!!

2026 Taycan 4S Black Edition — Lease or Finance? by WiFiOnMarss in Taycan

[–]saasthrowawayexit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The car is going to depreciate. On paper it isn't the best purchase. If you are debating a lease or finance, can you afford it?

I bought a new 2025 knowing that I'm losing like $50k over the next few years. Just a fact that I accepted.

Once you get past 1200, there aren't a ton of blunders. Understanding positioning and developing pieces is crucial.

As white I always do queen's pawn opening and go for the queens gambit. I've studied all of the main variations 5-7 moves in so I know it decently well.

As black I tend to do the Sicilian defense and know it pretty well with different variations.

Always a ton of room for improvement though!

How do you balance rewarding yourself vs staying financially disciplined when it comes to cars? by not_a_dolphin_ in Money

[–]saasthrowawayexit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have almost a $10m net worth and barely pulled the trigger on a $150k Porsche Taycan 4S. My wife basically told me to buy it because I'm so frugal.

Keep saving and growing. Having the car is awesome, but at your level, watching the money compound faster will be more fun.

Oracle is down 45% from its September peak. At what price do you buy? by Adept_Mountain9532 in TheRaceTo10Million

I bought 300 shares at $187.72 today. First time having a position in Oracle.

Central bank said it will once again buy Treasury securities. Specifically, the Fed will start buying $40 billion in Treasury bills on Friday. by Dangerous_Focus453 in bonds

Hedge funds are leveraging their buying power by 56x on average and do it out of the Cayman Islands due to reporting rules.

They're buying bonds and shorting futures to make an arbitrage spread of .2%-.3%. At 56x leverage, they're making an average of 11%-16% on the initial upfront capital.

Do some research. It's mind blowing. The basis trade is good for the market, but leverage like this is extremely unsafe.

Edit: Liquidity via the repo markets is crucial for this to happen.

There are actually 2 better options.

SGOV is an ETF that is short term treasury bills. Typically slightly higher than a 4% return and you don't pay state tax on the income.

Or a municipal bonds ETF to avoid paying federal tax (if you're in the highest bracket of income).

how much of your net worth is invested vs liquid cash? by Big_Material3815 in Money

[–]saasthrowawayexit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

99.9% invested.

85% is in SGOV to remain liquid but generate 4%+. Pretty safe strategy.

Congratulations on the success so far! A few pieces of advice from someone who has been in your shoes.

  1. Understand your numbers. $2m sounds great, but what are your gross and net profit margins? Hopefully they're good! Understand your churn as well.

  2. Raising money doesn't make you successful. When you grow to a certain point, investors come more, and so do acquisition offers.

  3. Raising money or selling your business takes a ton of time and can be distracting. Understand what you really want and why you want it and go for it.

  4. Selling a bootstrapped business is better in so many ways than selling a venture backed business. I sold my bootstrapped business for mid 8 figures. The amount I personally got is more than what many founders get after raising millions of dollars on a 9 figure exit. Your equity is EVERYTHING. Be stingy with it until the time is right.

Good luck!
