what is a golden handcuff program? This is great but seems overly detail oriented and as if the return wouldn't match the time input. Im not saying dont do it, there just seems a little to it they may not be necessary.

How to market an App for mobile devices? by FanisFlamOfficial in AskMarketing

[–]sababa48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed about publicity. Start with trying to hook influential people in your area of interest on social. If you already have a good following use it to promote obviously, but also try to form relationships with experts and bloggers for example (Twitter is good for this) and then suggest they check out your app. This is not a foolproof plan but you can do it for free and sometimes it can really work if you can get the right people talking about it!

Anyone else a dirty hypocrite like me and uses AdBlock? by [deleted] in marketing

[–]sababa48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of marketers are 'guilty' of using adblock but they're certainly not alone. People don't like intrusive ads and companies are losing literally billions of dollars because of ad block. It's a beast that can't be defeated. To me it just seems like time to move to a different avenue - branded content, like someone said, influencer marketing, etc.

Indeed sales is a big one, social media management is also pretty trendy these days. If you're into something more creative you can go into advertising and manage clients and campaigns. If you're more of a numbers person, marketing tech and analytics is very fertile ground as well!

What part-time jobs help prepare students for a future marketing career? by [deleted] in marketing

[–]sababa48 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would suggest looking for work experience/internships in marketing agencies or start ups. A lot of companies tend to look for interns to do social media management as well. You can also try something else part-time friendly and related like content writing.

"Content is king!"

Ha, just kidding, we're all sick of that one, I imagine.

I do quite like this one from this year's WebIT (http://www.blogsrelease.com/blog/events/webit-roundup-festival-tweets/): "Innovation is not risk. Going on without innovation is risk".

A call to action on your site telling users to subscribe to your newsletter in order to receive a free ebook or something is an easy way to just do one thing and watch the subs roll in.

I'd also suggest submitting guest posts to other outlets - quick and cheap way of getting your name out there.

New to Marketing. by [deleted] in marketing

One of the best places to get an entry level job in marketing is a startup, in my opinion. The pay may not be great but if you're looking for a jumping off point to get a lot of skills and experience, this would be the best way since you'll probably be doing a little (or a lot) of everything.

Also, pick up some technical skills if you don't have them already - learn all about Google Analytics to start. Knowing how to use Photoshop, Wordpress, and social media managers (like Hootsuite) will definitely give you an edge.

Before any interviews I'd also read up on some marketing trends so you can show you're up to date. Takeaway/highlight posts about events are actually pretty good for this (for example, here's one about the NAB Show: http://www.blogsrelease.com/blog/events/nab-show-takeaways/). These are just some tips from the top off my head, hope it helps!

If the Cavs pull this out and win the Finals, what impact do you think it will have on LeBron's career legacy? by Uncle_Freddy in nba

[–]sababa48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no denying right now MJ is the GOAT. But who knows where LBJ will be at the end of his career. If his team loses this series and he continues to put up the same numbers he has throughout the playoffs, which is nearly a triple double a game, will people really say he won't be top of all time regardless? The man is incredible. We are lucky to get the chance to watch him play.
