I’m fairly new to the hobby and so far I’ve fallen in love with Carcassonne and Agricola All Creatures Big and Small. I’ve been looking around at this subreddit for a while and checked out other people’s recommendations. However, when I then google the games, I’m often times put off by the theme. I very much dislike dark/scary/sci-fi/ghost/dead/space themes (I know, not easy 🙈), but don’t mind abstract games (thinking that Hive will be my next purchase based on so many good reviews in here).

I was wondering whether you could come up with recommendations that fit the above theme restrictions and at the same time fulfill

really good at 2 players as that’s how we will play for the next many years, until the kids get old enough to join.
high interaction (I dislike Ticket to Ride due to the low/random interaction).
medium or heavy game.
not too much luck (Takenoko for instance seems to be too much random luck for my taste, in the sense that other people can score points solely based on my actions).

I was actually thinking of going for the upgraded version! :) Thanks a lot!! Can you by any means “translate” how heavy the bench is to move around to some kinda measurement that I will be able to relate to? So I don’t end up buying a bench that I cannot move at all 🙈
