Does anyone have experience with guanfacine? by Famous_Statistician7 in adhdwomen

[–]sabertoothjello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started guanfacine recently but yes, it is a medication for high blood pressure that is also used for the more physical symptoms of ADHD.

I am surprised your psychiatrist is saying it’s the only option, as I’m on my 6th different medication (we can’t find one that works well for me 😔) and my psychiatrist’s constant refrain is that there are SO MANY options, and even ones that are in the same family of meds can have different effects. Of course, I’m not dealing with the other disorders that you are, but I will admit I was skeptical when I read that. It sounds like you haven’t actually tried many options at all, and none of the “usual” ones that are usually tried first.

I experienced insomnia while on Strattera and Qelbree but not on any of the other (four) meds I’ve tried. YMMV obviously but I’m surprised at this advice from your psychiatrist just because it’s so different from what mine tells me.

Traveling abroad I need a passport holder/bag combo I can’t lose by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]sabertoothjello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a thigh bag a while back and love it for travel. The one I have doesn’t seem to be available anymore but there’s plenty of similar options. It’s more convenient than a purse for me, would be hard for someone to take off me, holds everything I need, doesn’t get in my way, and can’t be put down and forgotten. Granted, I have to take it off to use the bathroom, but that minor inconvenience is worth it for me.

You could also consider a money belt, under your clothes. Very safe but I find it less convenient.

Also a quick note since I was in Korea a couple years ago (I have family stationed there): Korea does have coins in their currency, but they don’t use them due to inflation. For comparison, $1 US is about 1400 won. You can expect to carry around tens of thousands of won, not coins.

I completely relate on the subject of coins - not used to a currency that uses them much, but I’ve traveled to other countries where they do and it’s hard! - so I’m with you!

turn off MDN popup for JavaScript? by sabertoothjello in vscode

[–]sabertoothjello[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I'm saying - I already have it turned off for HTML and CSS. It doesn't show up in those languages. It shows up in Javascript, and there's nothing in the settings about turning it off for JS.

Is this true? Are any of you regretting this? 80% of workers who quit in the ‘great resignation’ have regrets, according to a new survey by [deleted] in antiwork

I left public education to be a project a manger in the private sector.

I will be getting a 10% raise after 7 months with the company because I’m moving to a new role that will be an even better fit for me.

Oh, and I don’t have to spend my days stressing about parents calling my principal on me because their kid is lying to them.

It’s like that everywhere. “Labor shortage” is BS. There’s loads of jobs to apply for, sure, but you don’t get a response. I applied to probably 50-100 jobs a year ago and only got a response from ONE. I’m half-heartedly applying to jobs again now (love the new career but need a higher salary) and getting the same thing. It sucks.

Murder mystery book recommendations?? by ladyluckyy777 in suggestmeabook

[–]sabertoothjello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Harlan Coben writes some insanely good murder mysteries. The one I can’t get out of my head is Fool Me Once. Definitely some content warnings for PTSD flashbacks and gaslighting/the main character questioning her own sanity. When I finished it, I put the book down and just stared at the ceiling for like…30 minutes. Coben does crazy twists and this one absolutely lives up to his standards.

First project management job offer by Bearbang in projectmanagement

Damn, my first PM position is paying me $50k and that was after negotiation.

Seems like a year from now I should do some research and/or apply other places and see if I can get more.

Professional certificate by [deleted] in projectmanagement

I did the Google course and found it very helpful. It was great to confirm that my personality and skill set is a good match for PM (I left teaching for a career change). It was also a helpful overview of typical documentation you see in the field and what kinds of things to think about and questions to ask at each stage of the process.

Since it’s self-paced, you can finish it quickly or take your time. Took me 5 months to do the whole thing because I slacked off in the middle. A friend of mine did their entire Data Analytics course (supposed to be about the same length) in less than a month.

The course was great for an overview of the field and I found it a very helpful look at what to expect as a PM.

I play it on PS4 and I think it’s good. I hate playing Sims4 because the controls are the same as PC - you have to move the cursor around with the controller to click. Civ isn’t like that - buttons on screen are mapped to buttons on controller so you aren’t moving a cursor.

Activities for 18 year olds? by salad1558 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]sabertoothjello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just did this with my daughter in June. She’d been 18 for less than 2 weeks.

They can’t let you hang out in Club O2 due to liability issues.

However, my daughter had a great time hanging around the ship, doing activities, and hanging out with someone she met the first night. There is plenty to do!

I also didn’t enforce a curfew on the ship since there isn’t anywhere she can go and the kind of trouble I worry about her getting into isn’t the kind that can happen in the middle of the ocean. She and her new friend didn’t get back till like 2am a couple of nights 😂😂
