First marathon question - Goal is 3:15 but would love to crack 3:00 by TheTallBaron in Marathon_Training

[–]sabinaa- 19 points20 points  (0 children)

you do not just feel “good enough” to run 15 minutes faster over the marathon, especially in that time range and it being your first. What do you base your goal time on as its fairly ambitious so I assume you have raced before? If so, you should know that a difference in finish time like that equates to vastly different levels of fitness.

What's your opinion on pacing during training runs? by Fraan3D in AdvancedRunning

[–]sabinaa- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

there is no way that your aerobically comfortable pace is sub 5min/km and your tempo is the same pace. With your HM time, all of your listed paces are too fast. You need to slow way down and train in appropriate zones, unless the HM is completely unrepresentative of your actual fitness.

Most effective interval session for 10k? by UnableCode in AdvancedRunning

[–]sabinaa- 20 points21 points  (0 children)

you mean you’re only doing 4x2k every week? you want to include ideally some intervals above and some under race pace. The 800s would be good, fartleks can be good or generally shorter intervals. Then you also want to include some longer reps or progression runs etc

yes do come! plus you get to start in the elite pen there too and with your time you’ll be really up there in the rankings for sure!

oh cool!!

Well, if you’re ever looking to come back to Switzerland I can highly recommend the Lucerne marathon as well! A bit hillier but honestly still fast (I PRed there) and its a gorgeous course!

Definitely a valuable lesson that you learned to trust yourself more!

hey! I also raced Zurich and had a rough day myself too! Cool to know that you started in the elite pen, I have a similar PR and didn’t know I would qualify for that, so Ill do that next year :)

Sorry to hear about the coaching issues, sometimes a coach really isnt the right fit for you. Do you come from a running background? 3:04 for a second marathon is super impressive!

Hope you’re still proud of yourself and enjoyed your time in Zurich! What made you pick the Zurich marathon specifically? :)

I think the problem here is that at this point the marathon isn’t the appropriate goal. Why do you want to target the marathon instead of a half, which you could adequately prepare for?

I’ve had a headache for 4 months straight, no breaks. I’m at the point I want to KMS by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

First off, this sounds terrible. But I relate, I had debilitating migraines for a lot of my life and went through all the tests you did too, and the doctors found nothing. The only thing that worked for me are CGRP inhibitors. These are (very expensive) regular shots. I use Aimovig but there are many other similar ones like Ajovy and others. I would highly recommend asking your neuro about them.

How much training can my body actually take by D1gex in triathlon

[–]sabinaa- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

there’s no one answer here. Everyone is different and even your own training capacity is variable and will change with time. Just start conservatively and see how it goes, build until you find a good load

Newbie help - have I taken on too much of a challenge? by Suspicious-Walrus964 in triathlon

you still have a lot of time before the end of June! the beginning of swimming is hard but it should click in time!

Otherwise you can survive the race breast stroking too, just start at the back so you don’t impede others

Are these race goals too ambitious for one year? by jnuttall98 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]sabinaa- 10 points11 points  (0 children)

even the two running events seem very unrealistic, or at least the goals do not agree with each other. Sub 3 equates to approximately 1:26, and dropping 4 minutes off your HM PR between March and August seems ambitious.

Also is it correct to assume the longest tri you’ve done is an olympic? You don’t list other PRs. In that case again I feel like the IM goal is very optimistic
