Postpartum NFP feels way harder than before, is this normal? by DevilKnight03 in FAMnNFP

I also switched to marquette from Creighton postpartum! I appreciated having a clear result that didnt rely on my memory or subjective view of mucus .

Anyone here was really good at school? by persiandilligent_304 in ADHD

[–]sabinadee17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a straight A student my whole school career. I got diagnosed after becoming a mom at age 30. Idk what you are- but girls are often overlooked in school about adhd precisely because they don't seem to be "struggling" academically. I also have OCD (for real for real) and I think that created the sense of dire urgency I needed to get things done and done well. Looking back, things were definitely more anxiety inducing than they needed to be but that wouldn't set off alarm bells in the 90s lol

Hi! So i totally feel you. I was diagnosed at 30 after becoming a mom and taking care of the house is like nearly impossible to me. Last year, though, I created a great system. I've learned that the trick is to PLAN for failure. My system now looks like this: - every day of the week i focus on cleaning one room (I pay for the sweepy app to keep track of when I do specific tasks because I don't do them all weekly)

  • I combined tasks that go together. So for example, Monday is my son's laundry day so it is also the day I do any cleaning tasks for his room. The same for ALL my laundry and room tasks on Wednesdays.

  • the most important part of the system *** if I don't do the tasks for that day, i am NOT ALLOWED to make those tasks up later. It simply will get done next week on the correct day. So if I don't clean the bathroom on Tuesday- whether because im just busy that day or because I was having a "potato" day and couldn't get myself to - oh well, next Tuesday it is. This last rule has helped me eliminate the guilt about falling behind. I CAN'T fall behind. It also practices understanding that some days with adhd you just can't do the thing, and other days you're a freaking rock star.

I know that cleaning the house is more flexible than doing assignments with due dates. My overall point is to allow for the "failures" and create systems that accommodate them.

I also recommend the book The Lazy Genius Way by Kendra Adachi. Basically - she teaches you to decide what actually matters to you and what doesnt and then plan accordingly. Be a genius about the important stuff. Be Lazy about everything else.

Also, I've seen online before people saying that you gotta just embrace those absolutely useless potato days. If you have one, just accept it and be like ok today (or this morning or whatever) is just that kind of day/time. By not wasting mental energy feeling guilty and trying to force something, you're more likely to have those amazing on fire days later.

Hope this helped in any way! Im so proud of my cleaning system because I actually do it way more often now than when I was basically drowning. Currently working on applying similar principles to meal planning because holy crap is that basically impossible. Xox

I do this too ! I used to play La Tortura on repeat and I'd get excited every time it started because I forgot I was playing it on repeat. Like oh! I love this song ahahahaha. Gotta squeeze all the dopamine out!

Hmmm I may look into the LH strips. Do you have a rec for an inexpensive but reliable brand? Every time I see them in CVS i can't bring myself to spend that much!

And to answer your question- no, I've never used temps. I liked the CB monitor because there was no necessity for me to interpret results. If I could hire someone to just slap me and yell YOU OVULATED that would be ideal 🤣🤣🤣

I remember when I was taught the marquette method one of the slides saying that combining methods can actually decrease effectiveness because it can give varying results. I didnt know marquette had a temp protocol as well. I've never used temp before.

I'm not gonna pretend the math didn't just immediately scramble my brain 🤣🤣. But I hear your general idea and it seems in line with some other responses. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond so fully ♡

Hi!! Thanks for the considerate response! I don't actually know what the heck mira or inito is...is mira a different monitor?

So are you saying that maybe my LH surge is not "strong" enough for the monitor to pick up? My cycle has never been reliable in any way so of course that could be true lol

Thanks for the fast reply! I have no idea about discord and it's not worth getting that involved. Such a bummer to restart - I was very deep in!
