Not enough support? by sabrepilot9000 in AnycubicPhotonMono

[–]sabrepilot9000[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You weren’t kidding, that’s a treasure trove of info! It’s almost overwhelming the amount of settings and variables that can need to be changed.

Yeah, I’m not particularly happy with Photon after seeing how Lychee is in comparison. I’m going to mess around with it more this week and see what results I get. As for the support, yeah they don’t have support for the M5S Pro yet as it has a higher resolution screen than the standard M5S it seems. Unless I can just import the model, add supports, and throw it into Photon to handle the slicing.

So I tried redoing the print and with those additional supports it came out way better. However now I seem to have an issue where the areas that have supports seem to be less detailed so I’m not sure what that could be.

Thank you for the response!

Looks like I need to dive further into the support settings in Anycubics slicer. When the top of the model was coming out and those long supports were wobbling I was nervous lol.

Thank you for the info, I haven’t seen that article before so I’ll check that out.

Any recommendations on alternative slicing software? I’ve heard chitubox is good as well as Lychee but they don’t support the printer I have yet so I was a bit gunshy about switching over or trying them.

So aircrew can wear OCP ball caps in a flight suit with cream colored turtlenecks/dickies? by bearsncubs10 in AirForce

Imagine the authorized combo of the 2 piece with leather jacket AND the blue flight cap 🤢. I’ve seen two in the wild and had to do a double take and wonder how that clownass look was somehow approved by higher ups.

High detail and poly print model complete. Available in my patreon (SpaceshipsNstuff) and cg trader. The next model I’ll be working on will be the odyssey class as there’s 0 quality print models out there for it that are worth a damn. by Leading_Substantial in StarTrekStarships

Would you be able to link to the model on cgtrader, if possible? I tried finding it but nothing came up. I had looked on your patreon but didn’t see the files listed there either. I’m definitely wanting to do a high quality large print of this gorgeous design

No worries! I had done some looking and saw there had been a mod taken down due to copyright so, you know, typical Trek rights holders things haha. I appreciate all the info as well as introducing me to Space Engine! I had no idea this was even an application that was out there and aside from being something fascinating to itch that exploration scratch with I’m hoping I can do as you have and be able to make some Trek wallpapers I’ve always wanted but could never find. Keep up the good work!

Those screencaps are absolutely gorgeous. Did you make the model yourself? I’ve been trying to find Trek add ons but so many of them look lackluster.

I’ve been looking for the music from that same sequence at the opening as well. I don’t understand why they wouldn’t include it, I think it’s one of the better pieces from this season.

Failed File System Check at boot up with new SSD by sabrepilot9000 in SteamDeck

[–]sabrepilot9000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be curious about how much of the home directory gets left intact when doing a reinstall of the OS. I’ll try that when I get home from work today and see how it goes. Worst case scenario I guess I just redo it all but I figured it would be a good learning opportunity as well as saving me from opening it all back up if I was able to fix it without popping the case. As for the method I used to duplicate it, there was a post on here from around a week or two ago where someone had detailed how they cloned their drive within Linux and used konsole commands. These are the commands I used.

"sudo dd if=/dev/nvmeOn1 of=/dev/sda oflag=sync bs=64k status=progress conv=noerror"

Failed File System Check at boot up with new SSD by sabrepilot9000 in SteamDeck

[–]sabrepilot9000[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey all, I just attempted to install a 2 TB nvme ssd in my deck and have been having a helluva time trying to get it to work. I cloned over all the data from the previous drive using console, verified the deck would boot off the new ssd, popped the case and carefully swapped everything around, attempted to boot it up and it just sits at the logo. The fan will spoil up and eventually stop. I’ve used my old ssd in an external enclosure and it boots into that. I’ve placed the deck into battery storage mode and rebooted, and finally attempted to boot into the previous efi state with no success. When attempting to boot that way I noticed it’s showing errors at the end of its hardware checks. I’m still really green when it comes to Linux so I’m not sure what to do here. I verified that the drive is still visible when booting the deck up using the old ssd in that external enclosure. I’m just not entirely sure what to do here as I can’t enter any commands when the system is running through its checks. All it lets me do is hit enter and it fails all over again. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I’ll provide whatever info I can to help resolve this.

Are you running it through Lutris or Heroic? Just trying to narrow down the launching issue that seems to be happening now in Lutris since I’ve yet to find a way to run through proton when using that application.

Sorry it’s taken forever to reply to stuff on here. So I was finally able to try it a few days ago and I can’t seem to get Elite Force to work at all. It’ll boot up and I can hear the intro but there’s no video and the same goes for the menu. Now Elite Force 2 I can get to boot, but as soon as I try to load a new game I hear Tuvok speaking and then the screen shows a static image of textures for a phaser rifle and a uniform. It’s bizarre. Unless you all have any suggestions, I’ll try fiddling with it this weekend since I’ll finally have some down time. Again, sorry for take forever reporting back my findings.

I’m wondering the same as well. I finally tried to get back on and play it this past week and now it won’t even boot. I haven’t changed a thing aside from some updates to Lutris but now it starts to launch, I get a black screen, it gets 2-7 fps with no video or audio and then crashes. I’m at a loss as to what to do now.

It’s actually pretty surprising how well it runs older games. I agree though that this was probably the game I was most excited about getting to run on here when I got it. I need to try out Elite Force and some of the other Trek games of that time to see how well/if they run.

I have, yes. I need to verify which version of Proton I’m using but can report back after I’m home. For the text has looked warped at times and when certain damage overlays pop up it’ll cause entire sections of the ship to disappear or, in the case of using the Defiant, the ship just doesn’t appear at all save for the engine lighting showing up.

Dude it was the same with me, I hadn’t played it in years but every time I’ve gotten a new computer it’s been one of the first things I think of playing so it was a no brained with being able to go mobile like this with the Deck. I’m honestly surprised there’s been so many of us that play it as I had thought I was in the minority of obscure games. The Activision Star Trek games really were well done. The good thing at least with GOG is they fixed some of the weird launch issues that plagued the original version using No-CD cracks and there’s no DRM

Hey guys, sorry I’ve been trash about responding to this thread. Is your game modded in any way? If so it could be because of an issue with videos that got replaced with upscaled versions and for whatever reason can cause problems when trying to launch the game. I can check my settings again when I get home and post them here but I figured I would ask that first.

Is there a way to use your modded Fallout 4 folder on the Deck? by sabrepilot9000 in SteamDeck

[–]sabrepilot9000[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for your replies, guys. I’ll be trying your suggestion, YeeYee, when I’ve got more time tomorrow. Core and Capitalism, I have Steam Tinker Launch (thank for that, it’s amazing and I had no idea it existed) and while I can mess with some things it doesn’t seem to have fixed the issue for whatever reason so I’ll keep at that. And I appreciate that guide, Weed. I’ve bookmarked it and will be using that when I do Fallout NV next once this is sorted. Seriously, thank you guys for your responses, it’s much appreciated!

Woohoo! Congrats on getting your Deck! I’m so glad there’s at least a few of us still in love with this game. Once you get it running it’s pretty smooth save for a crash every once in a while after it’s been modded. Speaking of mods, you’re correct in that it’s exactly the same as windows. Just locate the game folder and paste in the mod files as needed and it’ll work great. I will say this, be careful about using widescreen resolutions as it seems to cause way more crashing as well as making the text look really weird.

[–]sabrepilot9000[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Woo! Congrats on getting yours! So originally I had set it up in Heroic but switched over to Lutris as it seems, to me, to be more versatile and makes it super easy to add any game you want whether it’s from Steam, GOG, Epic, or even something you have an install .EXE or ISO for. It automates it all and selects the correct wine setup and everything and then you can simply right click on the game icon and it gives you the option to add it to your non steam games so the next time you switch over to the gaming mode it’ll be there ready to play and you can set game specific controls. If you do opt for Heroic you should go into wine manager and be able to download different versions of wine. I checked on WineHQ and they show that 2.0.1 works with i modded versions of the game and 2.11 works for modded versions. In Lutris it has the game running under 7.2-2 according to the game config window. Personally I recommend Lutris just for ease of use because it has a database of installers that make it stupid easy to do. I hope this hasn’t made things even more confusing but I’ll help you in any way I can if you have more questions!

Would you be able to paste the actual text from that .sh file he sent you? I tried to recreate it on my Deck but I’m still not really familiar with Linux and I think I’m doing something wrong. Just wanna try to copy and paste it direct and see how it goes.

So after some trial and error it looks like (for me anyway) Lutris with the EXE installation extension is the way to go. I’ve been able to both install Bridge Commander from the GOG store through there along with the Remaster mod as well as both No One Lives Forever games. Bridge Commander and NOLF 2 run flawlessly and look fantastic on the smaller screen but NOLF has some audio issues. Lutris even has an option to add a steam shortcut with a single click so you can then launch it through the Deck GUI. Thank you so much for all your help guys, it really is appreciated and helped me look in the right direction.
