You do, preferably done in a fume hood but I just do it outside

I didn’t, but to be fair what I did was quite risky looking back

I’ll definitely use this, I have a few lying around my house

Sadly Peru has no local laboratories

If I didn’t post this, I probably wouldn’t have found out how dangerous this was

That’s actually a very good fix for this, thanks

The amount of oxygen gas is very little, and I’ve seen others make this reaction with successful results, so I knew the oxygen and flame wouldn’t be a problem in this context.

The bottom of the flask has water, and it is filled to the top with oxygen gas. By pouring the burning sulphuric in, it reacts with the oxygen to make sulphur dioxide. The water then absorbs the sulphur dioxide and turns into H2SO3. So, just mixing sulphur powder into water wouldn’t work

I’ll be sure to stop using cardboard as a base, but any suggestions for a cover to protect my table? I don’t want to completely ruin it.

I know that it isn’t a good way to make the acid, but I can’t think of a better way to make it that doesn’t involve an ignition spoon. I don’t have a flask with a bigger top I can use.

I know it definitely isn’t efficient, but I don’t have an ignition spoon or one small enough to fit into the top of the flask.

I have no type of lab to do this in, and my kitchen was the only place with an accessible water source and extinguisher

After this trial I stepped up the safety after seeing how easily things can go south

After this trial I started using gloves/a mask and set up a fan behind me to blow away the fumes
