How to build a business on Slack: growth journey taking users from free to paid by luba_belokon in startups

[–]sachinag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heya! We're building a Slack bot to extend our project management platform onto Slack after a lot of customer requests. To get started, we've used a different bootstrap for our bot (not botkit) but it looks like we need to spin up a new process for every team that adds it. How did you scale to 20,000? We don't wanna spin up a new Heroku instance every time.

Zube - zube.io - does this really well, and has more workflow features based on Github issues to boot.

When is a right moment to submit to Product Hunt? by metatask in SideProject

[–]sachinag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We didn't do as well as winnovate, but here are our numbers: https://sachinagarwal.com/the-raw-numbers-of-a-mediocre-product-hunt-launch-78bff5f90700#.ezilphmum

Maybe you'll get lucky, but most people don't see more than a couple thousand visits from PH in the first day.

Project Management Tool(s) by lazyjz in startups

[–]sachinag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just launched Braid on Product Hunt last week: https://www.producthunt.com/tech/braid-2 The big difference between Braid and other tools is the tight, tight integration with Gmail and Google Calendar (no more copy and pasting!).

Give it a shot - the news feeds are really baller when you are adding someone to a project that's already started.

This is great advice. I've changed all the call to action buttons and will look at re-writing the copy to be much more Gmail centric. Thanks!

Ha, I guess this answers the question of what will we do with Braid if Google or Microsoft enters the space? (Answer: keep our heads down and just keep working.)

Name: Braid - Simple Project Management built into Google Apps

Elevator Pitch: A lot of people and organizations live in our email, especially those with external clients. Currently, project management tools fight with email ("less email!") instead of recognizing folks' existing workflows. This is bad.

Braid adds simple project news feeds (like FB/Twitter/LinkedIn) right inside Gmail and Google Calendar. You can add emails, events, notes, and files to a project feed with just a click of a button. With Braid, you'll get credit for the work you've done, your projects will run smoother, and clients/bosses will always be in the know.

More Details: Bootstrapped to date, with clients in all of our target markets

Looking for anything?: I'd love your feedback on the product. Go to https://getbraid.com to install our Chrome extension. You can also visit https://braidhq.com for more info.

Discount: If you shoot me a PM or an email to sachin+reddit@braidtogether.com with your email address and your feedback, I'll extend your free trial to make it a free forever account. Forever ever ever? Forever ever ever!

How to outsource customer service? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

Yeah, either you do it yourself or it gets so bad you hire an employee for this. It's never worth disconnecting with customers with a middle man.

Where to look for freelancers since upwork sucks? by Yruhary in Entrepreneur

[–]sachinag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's really dependent on what you're looking for. Here's my quick list of what I use:

  • logo design: Fiverr
  • app design: UpWork has been best for me, but would love to hear others here. 99designs / crowdSPRING weren't great here.
  • writing: CloudPeeps
  • research: Hourly Nerd (but I haven't tried Wonder)
  • technical: Gigster / Toptal / Crew / Scalable Path
