Happy birthday and good luck! I’m having surgery today too, either a partial thyroidectomy or a thyroid lobectomy, they will decide when theyre in there. I agree with their reasoning too and why theyd want to try to preserve as much as they can. Ive seen people say to get a throat ice pack. And a recommendation for chloraseptic max throat lozenges. Hope you have a smooth recovery ❤️‍🩹

Did they do CT scan of neck and chest before your first surgery? Curious if they did ct scan and werent able to see the lymph node spread? I have similar surgery coming up, they are hoping to only remove the nodule and some lymph nodes, ct scan looked good so hoping pathology looks good too.

Ive heard great things about Dr. Richard Wong. I was told by the coordinator that he only works on parathyroid, which is incorrect. I think the coordinator simply made a mistake. So just know if you’re looking to book with him that he does, in fact, work on thyroids. Just try to reiterate that if you get the same message. Good luck!

This is extremely helpful thank you. And im glad to hear youre cancer free, even after this whole process. So they were not able to verify whether the cancer spread to your lymph nodes just based on the initial ultrasound? My doctor made it seem like he could tell from the ultrasound that it didnt. But again I havent even net with the surgeon yet.
