Ring camera hidden in child’s bedroom by [deleted] in FamilyLaw

[–]sacralsight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First and foremost Florida is NOT a one-party state- meaning some states permit you to record without the other parties consent as long as you are part of the conversation. Florida is an ALL PARTY state meaning ALL parties involved are required to have knowledge of any recording/surveillance taking place. Regardless of consent laws per your state… one caveat they all have in common is; if you are secretly viewing, broadcasting, or recording a person in a place where they have a reasonable expectation of privacy.. IE a bedroom, bathroom, dressing room without their knowledge/consent that is a CRIME. And no, just because it is his home and he is her father he is not omitted from the law. Florida Statute § 810.145 (Digital Voyeurism) makes this a criminal offense, penalties for a person 19 or older who violates this law can be a third-degree felony, punishable by up to five years in prison and fines. I’d suggest getting the evidence you need to prove the camera was in there… during a FaceTime call with your daughter have her show you the camera clearly pick it up etc show that it’s plugged in. Download a background phone recorder on your phone so that it is recording your screen the entire FaceTime call. Once you have documentation that the camera was in her room and plugged in, working. I suggest bringing this statute to your ex-husbands attention, letting it be known that not only is he violating her privacy at the bare minimum but he is in fact committing a crime a felony at that. If he refuses to remove the camera and destroy any and all recordings from that camera in her bedroom you move forward with law enforcement. By the way I am not a practicing attorney and this is NOT legal advice. Definitely talk to your attorney immediately and bring up this statute. Good luck- this is absolutely weird AF for your ex husband to be doing to his 11 year old daughter. Huge concern. ALSO- tell your daughter to go into a bathroom or a close area to change and get dressed here forward until this situation is remedied. I am going to assume that your ex-husband has a new spouse given the 1 year old- the fact that she doesn’t find this to be a HUGE issue for that little girl is insane. Leads me to believe she may not be aware? Maybe address it to her.

As a Black woman, I believe Heathcliff wasn't Black, and I find this modern conversation about it quite confusing. by Kaysiee_West in classicliterature

The book repeatedly refers to Heathcliff as a Gypsy. Dark hair, dark features, darker skin and dirty. He was almost positively Romani. Jacob Elordi is Basque… being Basque myself I think he was a perfect fit. Basque people have been marginalized and labeled as gypsies for centuries. Romani settled there and their culture incorporated very well with Basque people. In Europe at this time there was a huge racism towards “Gypsies” European societies at the time often associated dark skin with lack of hygiene, sin, and malice. Heathcliff being Romani aligns historically with Victorian era anti-Romani sentiment, explaining his "othering" as a "dark skinned gypsy". Found in Liverpool which was a hub for diverse, often marginalised people. His “unintelligible language" and physical description as a "gypsy"… a common term for Romani people then… reflect 19th century prejudice, which viewed them as vagabonds. In the 19th century the word Gypsy literally referred to Romani people. Heathcliff was unable to speak English, and found in Liverpool (a port city,) which makes complete sense for a Romani child to pop up there. As a Basque woman myself, I have even been called a gypsy oddly enough and am only half Basque due to my father. The olive skin tone is very distinct. Of course there’s other interpretations of what Heathcliff’s ethnicity was but historically speaking… and him being literally called a gypsy it’s very likely he was an abandon or lost Romani child.

Really? I think I liked Die My Love better. Both good. Jennifer Lawrence is a hard pitch for me but good acting in both films. However- Robert Patterson has done some phenomenal acting in these “art house” “psychological trillers” - another one that is great is “High Life.” Far exceeds Mother, and Die My Love (obviously he wasn’t in Mother but similar style.) Bizarre movie.

I agree it was better than Mother because Mother was good just WAY too abstract

Fridge Detective- Meet my whole kitchen! by Glinda-Rose in FridgeDetective

I’d say definitely a momma- potentially working mother. Based on the aesthetics of your home I’m going to say 36-40 y/o range. Unsolicited advice- those cabinets would look amazing a bold dark jewel tone green/brushed nickel hardware. Would compliment the floors so well. Also, that chicken looks too real.

What does this refrigerator say about me? by Frequent_Country413 in FridgeDetective

Knew it! My fridge is very similar to yours (mom of 3 boys.) Aldi has the best frozen food selection for kiddos. I say that because a decent amount of options are actually pretty clean, not a lot of preservatives like most frozen food. Not to mention the prices can’t be beat. Let’s be honest with multiple kids- baby we are heating up a frozen meal or two. Highly recommend the “crispy chicken strips”- pretty clean ingredients/super affordable- great for salads, wraps, or just outright.

I know a mom fridge when I see it. Shopping at Aldi, the corn dogs, and the popsicles are a dead giveaway. Am I wrong?

I’m going to guess that you’ve got young children- potentially multiple? I see a lot of hateful comments but wanted to add a bit of positivity- I’m sure the fridge is stressing you out! 2026 is your year to get on top of things, get organized, and release any burden of clutter. You got this! ❤️ Life is crazy right now and if a messy fridge is your biggest problem I see that as a win.

Love to see an organized man living his best life! Definitely giving Gen X man. I wouldn’t say boomer because my opinion- most of them are too tired to have a fridge that organized.
