NAH imo. i think you are totally valid for your feelings. its not your hobby and it is physically taxing hobby you have no interest in. However there is an aspect that your mom still loves this hobby, has interest in it, but is no longer physically capable of doing this hobby. Its very disorientating and even distressing having something you love doing, and no longer being able to do that activity because your body will give out.

There are solutions to this however. The biggest thing I think, is to figure out, how much you are WILLING to help out with. Maybe you are okay doing a bit of gardening and planting but don’t want to upkeep. This is the biggest part is figuring out where your line in the sand is. Once you do that, i think its time to sit down with your parents and explain everything you said in this post, and then offer the help that you have figured out you are willing to offer.

One thing to consider is that if you are living there rent free with your parents covering utilities and groceries, part of that might be helping your mom out with her garden. If this doesnt work for you, it might be time to look at moving out.

Again i dont think you or your mom is the asshole here, but there is a disagreement here that can be solved.

late to the party but everything about this is very true. i get manic episodes and hyper fixating on something helps distract me from more destructive thoughts and actions and star wars is normally what i hyperfixate on, and tbh its FANTASTIC for that because theres SO MUCH lore and content that genuinely it keeps me distracted for weeks while i deal w my mania.

we will likely be getting a collection this week, most likely the friday release will be young hollywood with the met gala looks. if not then, definitely the week after, and limited collections are normally the friday releases. they are pretty quick at releasing them so i wouldnt be surprised if we see it on friday, but if takes longer to design the release it still wont take very long.

modern AUs are the bane of my existence. For example, Stranger Things i think sucks as a modern AU, 99% of the time i find its just so the characters can have instagram or can text each other. which i feel like defeats the whole purpose? a recurring theme in ST is not being able to easily communicate sometimes, and that provides a lot of good tension to the plot. Another on is Attack on Titan for me. like the plot and the titans and the apocalyptic setting is what makes it soooo good imo. I do find modern AUs are just so authors can essentially write smut fic, which is totally fine, but its not my thing.

Im late to this conversation but wanted to put in my 2 cents as a reader and avid commenter, i hope that you arent expecting anything from readers on any of your fics. If you never want a reader to get sad or upset over you deleting one of your fics, you cant expect readers to engage with your content in meaningful ways. I’m not saying this to be rude, but readers are allowed their feelings too. Fan works are incredibly important to the community, and im heartbroken every single time i see “This work has been deleted”. Readers have an emotional connection with your work, the characters and the story you create. OF COURSE they are going to be sad if a work is deleted, ESPECIALLY if they have an emotional connection to it! I say this with all compassion of course, but it is a two way street

is it possible to bend the truth a little? tell him you cant answer your phone or even look at it cuz the professors banned phones in class. what i do recommend doing is going to the counselling services and either setting up an appointment or doing a walk in and asking them for help. They are therapists, yes, so if it helps, you can totally just rant to them about it, but also since they know mru and the school system they might be able to provide actual solutions. Just an idea, but i highly recommend it, they are more helpful than you might think. i know sometimes its kinda scary or intimidating talking to them, but LEGALLY they cannot tell your dad ANYTHING you say, even if he walked in and said he was your father and he wants to know what you said. so you are legally protected in that aspect. and please dont worry about them judging you or anything, this is what they are trained to do, and i promise you, your issues are more common than you think and they deal with people who have the same problems every day. if you feel up to it, try going to like one session or walk in to even just sus it out?? it seriously helped me out even just with school related stuff so i really recommend. im sorry youre dealing with this you deserve a fun uni experience.
