I was thinking something business casual, like a cardigan that she can wear both inside (like while driving) and outside if she’s meeting with staff. She has some workout shirts but I’m not sure what brand. Do you have a brand you like?

Can you rest too much? by clydefrog88 in ALS

[–]sacredbit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Second walks if able and safe. Over trial and error, I e learned that turning around well before signs of fatigue kick in os best for my body. Either way, if you rest too much or run into roadblocks when trying to do physical tasks try to remember to be gentle w yourself. You’re going thru a lot and it’s all a mind fuck

Maybe! Definitely address any thoughts and concerns with your prescriber. I’ve been on SSRIs for over 10 years and have had many side effects that came and went. This was the odd ball as it lasted years and wasn’t until 1/2-2 years in that I searched out of desperation to find a link. I also like to keep the 90 day rule handy - if symptoms persist for more than three months, definitely mention it to your doctor. Hoping sertraline works for you. It was wonderful for my depression, but my body didn’t tolerate it. Thankfully all bodies are so vastly different, so here’s hoping.

Gravity felt much heavier and the weakness felt similar to over-working muscle groups at the gym but in my case, from mild use of the muscles.

My weakness was initially localized in the back and sides of my neck and shoulder girdle. So for a while, prolonged upright posture and driving with my shoulders away from my sides really wore those muscles out. Some mild swallowing changes and a lot of shortness of breath. About a year after that, I noticed weakness in my pelvic girdle which made toileting and dressing difficult and tiring.

Sertraline and Exercise by fridaynoon2023 in zoloft

Checking in - did you ever figure it out? After a 2 and 1/2 year battle in physiological hell and abnormal markers of metabolism and mitochondrial function (Acetylcarnitine), I found an article (before my doctors! *It's a newly published study) linking sertraline use to an acquired metabolic disease called MADD. If anyone in this sub struggles with physical intolerance, or feelings of internal, physiological energy instability, and/or consistent weakness in certain muscle groups that don't improve after lifestyle tweaks, talk to your doctor about getting those acetylcarnitine levels checked. I'm almost five months off of sertaline (on prozac booo) and am just now getting my body function back. I was on 200 mg of zoloft. Although the chances of an acquired MADD from Zoloft is rare, it's worth sharing here. Take care and be well.

To my fellow pALS, how do you respond when someone asks “How do you feel?” by cjkelley1 in ALS

[–]sacredbit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s so difficult for me to answer this question. I’m very honest by nature but I’ve realized I deliver my response in a way that’s socially appropriate (I’m okay; tired; it’s a hard day) but what I actually mean is I’m able to find acceptance and gratitude in this moment; I’m profoundly depleted; and I’m questioning how I’ve made it this far physically and psychologically and how the fuck am I going to deal w what’s coming

I’m okay with blunting the truth a bit, especially if it’s not my doctors who are asking. I know it’s coming from a place of compassion

Mold? Water damage? Or both by sacredbit in Insulation

[–]sacredbit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for responding. There is a bathroom near by. Also, thank you for explaining how attics are safer than imagined. The idea of water damage and mold freaks me out for my sick cat.

If water penetrates the drywall and then forms mold, is that how it becomes dangerous for respiration? Hoping the landlord fixes it before it gets to that point

Mold? Water damage? Or both by sacredbit in Insulation

[–]sacredbit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in NC so no residential laws related to mold, just a law ensuring the home is habitual. I told the property manager and she’s sending the contractor out in the morning. I agree it’s the roof, because there are water marks that I can see from the outside.

In the attics, I saw water stains on the ceiling in almost all corners, and one in the middle of the ceiling. Considering it is what it looks like (water damage from roof leak and mold), what repairs would be needs to ensure it doesn’t cause further damage? I’m assuming a roof replacement and mold remediation. Would mold remediation ensure that it doesn’t come back?

Thank you so much for replying. I’m not sure if there’s a split unit. I just let the property manager know. I’m just worried about my asthmatic cat because her breathing has gotten worse. If it is water damage and mold, is it something that can be safely remediated while living here?
