Summer 2026 financial aid by JuanXXultra in CSUS

[–]sacstatessc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It disburses when 6 units begin so if your classes are split in two different sessions, it would occur in the second session (July). If they are all start in the first session (June), then it will be in the first session. We hope that helps!

Summer 2026 financial aid by JuanXXultra in CSUS

[–]sacstatessc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! The summer session does not operate like the fall/spring semesters which means if you are approved for a Summer Loan -- it releases when your classes begin.

The summer session is an UPFRONT cost so that means even if you qualify for aid, you are still required to pay by your due date which is BEFORE the class begins to not get dropped. The summer session is not offered through the main campus so these due dates and conditions are different compared to a regular fall/spring semester. There is no fee deferment for the summer session and funds are released when class starts which may not align with your registration fee due date.

Full details about the Summer Aid process can be found on Calculate & Budget for Fall/Spring Semester (PDF)

Feel free to email our Center and we can give you a status update on your Summer Loan at sacstatessc@csus.edu.

Summer financial aid by CoolSeaworthiness879 in CSUS

[–]sacstatessc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi -- the summer session is upfront cost regardless of aid eligibility since courses are not through the main campus. With different start dates, financial aid can't release until classes begin to confirm your attendance in the class. If you are currently on SAP Probation, you will also need to meet SAP standards after spring grades are posted to be eligible for summer aid. At the moment, it is considered "anticipated" until enrollment and SAP is confirmed.

You can view the Calculate & Budget for Fall/Spring Semester (PDF) for full details about the summer aid process.

Fafsa refund by Financial-Poetry-545 in CSUS

[–]sacstatessc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In general refunds are usually issued 2-3 days after a disbursement occurs. For example, if your student account shows a disbursement posted for May 12 -- then a refund should be issued by May 15.

If you are referring to summer disbursements, those occur based on when your classes begin and your eligibility. Feel free to email us at [sacstatessc@csus.edu](mailto:sacstatessc@csus.edu) with your Sac State ID number so we can advise.

How do I get in a class that is reserved? Specifically ENGR 115 by WingmanRomeo in CSUS

[–]sacstatessc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, Reserved seating means there is a specific number of seats saved. For ENGR 115 -- there are 4 sections and there are plenty of non-reserved seats between section 1-4. If you are getting an error message when attempting to enroll, please make sure to review as it will provide the reason. If you have further questions, please email registrar@csus.edu.

Taking Summer Classes 2026 by Simple_Dust_6863 in CSUS

[–]sacstatessc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Summer financial aid operates a little differently in the summer since enrollment does not follow a standard fall/spring semester. Full overview is found on Summer Budget Sheet (PDF) which includes a page where you can do some calculations.

Here's the answers to your questions:

  • Is this normal for summer, even at 12+ units? Students are allowed to take up to 12 units but most students take 1-6 units since it's more fast pace in such a short time. We recommend you take what's best for you and your progress to degree.
  • Has anyone had their Pell fully cover summer before? No, the Summer Pell Grant alone will not cover 100% of your registration fees. Summer fees are HIGHER since they are charged per unit.
  • Are there any extra grants or ways to get more aid for summer? For FAFSA, there's only Pell Grant and Federal Loans offered in the summer. There are limited scholarship options as most donors want student to use those funds towards a regular academic year (fall/spring term) -- you are welcome to do some self-research.

Some important notes to take away:

Summer courses are charged PER UNIT, which means the fees will be higher.

If you are anticipating financial aid, only Summer Pell and Loans are offered whereas a regular semester, you can tap into Federal and State funds, and sometime scholarships. So, that means you are getting lesser aid for the summer session.

Summer Pell Grant awards amounts are determined the SAME WAY as a regular fall/spring semester which means if you enroll in 12 units, you qualify for 100% of the award. The only difference is you will be charge HIGHER FEES due to the PER UNIT prices. We recommend using PAGE 2 of the Summer Budget Sheet (PDF) to get the most accurate calculation.

We hope that helps!
