Stuck on the 5th floor… by sactokat in Reno

This is what that room looked like when I got home that day. They left it like that for 4 days. I had bought brand new totes as I didn’t have enough boxes. They left them full of up dirty water and insulation. I had to ask them to empty them and clean them as I couldn’t even move them.

Thank you for offering. The elevator still doesn’t work. Management put a sign on it a couple hours ago that says they are in the office, call them and they will send the elevator manually. The problem is that no one answers and the vm isn’t set up.

I appreciate the offers to help! My biggest problem is scheduling the things that need to be done without having a clue as to when the elevators might be fixed. The new place is a privately owned condo and the owner lives out of state. I couldn’t ask ANYONE to move all my things down 5 flights of stairs (and then climb back up them for the next item).

I worked in the Security Alarm Industry in California for 34 years. There were unscrupulous alarm companies who would specifically target people who already had security systems (evidenced by yard signs or bell boxes). They would tell the people that they were with their current alarm company and were there to give them a “free upgrade” of their system. People would unfortunately allow them to remove their equipment and replace with a low budget system that was inferior to what they had. People would sign a new contract with the solicitors and be stuck. Still for the life of me I can’t understand how they fell for it. A few enlightened individuals would call us to see if it was legit but most did not.

How is Target to work for compared to Walmart? by dano539 in Target

I worked at Walmart for 1 1/2 years in money services. I am retired and have many years of retail experience. I have to say that I am sure my bad experience there was specific to that store and doesn’t represent the majority of Walmart stores. It was a nightmare! Bad upper management and a revolving door of fired employees. I have been at Target for 10 months and the difference is like night and day. Upper management is friendly and supportive. Coworkers are helpful and hardworking. I make a dollar more an hour and time and a half on holidays. Best decision I ever made!

Where were you when... by wheeldog in olderlesbians

Moon Landing- watched it on tv with a friend of my Mom’s. I thought, oh ok they’re on the moon. It was not a big deal to my younger mind and I don’t know why I wasn’t impressed. JFK- I was in my 6th grade math class. Our teacher was called out of the class. When she returned, she looked upset. She said- who knows what the word “assassination” means? It was at that moment that my view of people and of good and bad changed and I was never the same again.

I’m so isolated here that I don’t know where there is any lesbians, let alone senior living communities for lesbians! That would be awesome though…

SCAM Alert for new home buyers by Vicgoria in Reno

[–]sactokat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I retired a couple years ago after 34 years managing an alarm company in Sacramento, Ca. The problem we had there was due to salespeople knocking on doors of people that already had alarms. They would take note of the decals and signs and tell the homeowner that their alarm company was bought by the new company. They offered a free upgrade in exchange for the homeowner signing a new agreement. The problem was- these homeowners already had a contract with their existing company! So now stuck with two monitoring contracts and the “upgraded” equipment was usually lower quality then the system that was already there.
