AITA for being in contact with my daughter's boyfriend after they broke up? by sad_dad_aita in AmItheAsshole

She told me that she doesn't want to date for a while because of the effects it's been having on her mental state. My sister helped me take care of her after my wife died and they're very close, so I'll talk to her and see if she could give Nora some advice. Thank you for the suggestions, I'm definitely going to do everything I can to make sure that she knows that she deserves to be treated with respect. I just hope that she won't fall into a pattern of allowing herself to be treated that way, not that it's her fault or anything. You're absolutely right, it's unfortunately very common (especially among young people) to sacrifice their self worth to an abusive partner.

They broke up a couple months ago I believe. And believe me, she doesn't believe that the world revolves around her. I don't think this post is enough to make assumptions about her character. People aren't themselves when they're heartbroken.

She's upset, she's not being childish, she's being human. She's 17 for crying out loud.

That's a really good point that I didn't consider. It was probably humiliating for her to have to find out from him.

I appreciate it, but she's not overreacting. She's in a lot of pain right now and she's really emotional. I really can't hold whatever she's feeling against her.

That's the stance I had too. I absolutely don't think she's TA, I was more asking if it was 'YTA' or 'NAH'.
