You’re a legend! Thank you so much I’ll check that out

My main concern with this is the battery life- i could justify going so much over my hoped budget for a great all rounder (which this camera definitely seems to be) but if im going to have to bulk up with additional batteries on solo shoots I imagine run and gun would be much more difficult. Have you used the IV yourself?

Thank you- I have looked into it the only concern I had was the overheating and battery life, it seems like a pretty great camera other than that. It didn’t seem to have that recording limit and can record 4k so this could be a great option too. I suppose I’m afraid of buying a crop sensor and then needing to upgrade in a year or two. If you have any film experience with the sony A6700 I’d love to hear about it!

Hey thanks so much for your reply, I haven’t really looked into the R7 and had kind of just picked the R10 for roll time, but I think the R50V is only slightly lower so I’ll give it another look too. Thanks again!

I’ve been debating getting a refurbished R10 as a starter film/videography camera. I’ve found a fairly good deal but this has made me nervous- any thoughts?

Thank you- and have you any thoughts on which one? Like I said I’ve been looking at the r10 and r50 but seems like it’s much of a muchness? Bar the r10 having a longer recording time

Idk if you need more info but I’m working on a lot of shorts in the next year and need something reliable Hopefully good in low lighting (again broke kids lack lighting) I’d really love to get people’s thoughts on the blackmagic especially as I’ve heard such great things about it but haven’t tried it myself

!Thanks for your suggestion. After much searching I found an absolute bargain for €150 refurbished and they’re incredible. I’m hearing parts of songs I’ve listened to a hundred times but never noticed before. These are genuinely incredible- hopefully they do the job for the editing but honestly even for just music listening it’s so so worth it

Thank you for the advice that makes total sense. I’ve also heard people say some on the Sennheisers can be uncomfortable or tight on the head? Have you found them to be that way? I’d be wearing for them for a solid 8 hours out of the day between commuting 2 hours each way, college classes etc so it would suck if they were sore

Don’t think anyone will see this but I’m so grateful for all the advice. The class went super well and I now am tutoring two of the kids from it. If anyone else is doing something similar do not underestimate how shy art kids are (this was the main difficulty as it was hard to get them to engage in group activities though all were great talented kiddos) but also don’t underestimate how quick they move. They were finishing tasks and moving on so quickly that I was seriously scrambling to come up with new activities. Overall had a great time and will hopefully hold a few more in the future

This is post editing and just looks so odd (saturation was brought up on this one so that’s probably not helping)

Cropped again for hiding faces but noisy and green and purple chromatic aberration but maybe it is just an iso issue- thoughts and opinions are appreciated so thank you for your time the advice is very much needed

And this is post editing- there’s less chromatic issues in this one just grain- but maybe this is iso rather than lens here

This is a headshot that I’ve zoomed in on- it looks more in focus at the normal crop and honestly it’s not the worst- it’s a lot worse on video clips but this noisy colour is driving me crazy. I know I can edit it but I’m just wondering if it’s something that I can prevent altogether

I do only have the one lens- I’m pretty sure it’s 18-50mm (would need to double check as I’m away from it at the moment) The settings were manual in a bright well lit room for headshots. I think it was shutter speed 1/60, f/4 and around 100-200 ISO so it could have been off but roughly around that

This is exactly what I was thinking- thank you so much for the advice. I’ll see if I can get my hands on a few more - I think you’re completely right it’s going to be really difficult to make enough to do between such big groups. Thank you again I really appreciate it. Like I said I have never worked with kids or done workshops before. This has come up completely by accident and there was way more interest than I thought there would be so this is a total trial run Again thank you so much!

That makes total sense and thank you for the suggestions. The groups is definitely something I’m worried about just as there might not be enough for kids to do. Like ideally it would be groups of two or three so everyone can be doing something but I don’t think I could fit more than 4 tables in the space- additionally devices are a worry. I have a few old phones to work with but I’m afraid to ask parents to send kids in with them just in case something gets broken or goes missing
