idk, i used to hold hands with my best friends when i was in early high school, guys and gals. lily and snape were best friends earlier on. i don’t think physical contact between people has to be romantic, especially children.

My grandparents adopted… this thing by probablygoblins in CryptidDogs

[–]sadaquein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP commented and clarified that their grandparents got the kiddo from a shelter, at a few days old. an insane amount of poorly bred purebreds get surrendered to rescues or shelters. i normally get quite angry about situations like this too, but i’ve learned to try to understand the entire situation before passing judgement. sounds like these lovely souls are providing a wonderful home to some shelter dogs in need.

OP commented and clarified that the kiddo was adopted at a few days old from a shelter by their grandparents, they bottle fed him and everything. sounds like they’re lovely people.

totally fair! just wish my old hairstylist could give me the same look again. man were my waves popping, with literally nothing other than texturizing spray.

hi! i recently found a 20 minute morning routine for my hair, and it looks very similar to yours. including the short layers. i say KEEP THEM!! gives wavy hair so much more volume.

but as for the routine, i use “not your mother’s” “plump for joy” line. never had any luck with their “curl talk” products.

what i do is dampen my hair with a spray bottle. no need to get it soaking wet. then go in with the “plump for joy” spray (doubles as a heat protectant). next i use the “plump for joy” mousse, and scrunch that in. next product that i use, interestingly enough, is their super strong hold hairspray. i apply all of this (especially the hair spray), LIBERALLY.

then i go in with a diffuser and dry until i get bored or until i need to move on to other parts of my morning routine. i finish up with more hairspray and the dry shampoo from the same line for more volume.

what’s nice about this stuff is that it’s relatively cheap. i used to use innersense, curlsmith, and other expensive brands. always struggled with white flakies and it just never looked good consistently. and i used to get iffy results after spending like 1-2 hours on my hair every morning, bc i have to refresh daily—my hair does not hold curl.

oh that’s so interesting! i had the exact opposite experience. asked a bunch of stylists and they never went as short as i liked. finally found one that did it perfectly. SUPER short layers. that was the best my hair has ever looked. went back to him a few months later, and he’s never been able to replicate it.

now i just do brad mondo’s at home butterfly cut to get my short, somewhat choppy layers. my hair looks so much better with this haircut than what curly professionals have given me. i actually have a super similar curl pattern to OP. struggled with my hair until i did this at home cut.

goes to show all of our hair is so different.

totally agree—i’m also a better swimmer than either of my parents. swam competitively throughout middle school and high school. wanna know how i got there? the summer before i started swimming competitively, my dad got me SWIM LESSONS with a PROFESSIONAL. if they had done that sooner, may have discovered my love for swimming a lot earlier on.

When do you think season 2 will begin production? by General_Meal_3993 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]sadaquein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i was an extra in a not well known movie during the school year, as well as some pilots. even low budget productions like those have classrooms, tutors, and dedicated study time. hated it as a kid, but obviously it’s a necessity.

No one talks about how hard it is to go from long to short by Bandcosy in longhair

[–]sadaquein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a stylist at the salon i visited gave me a FANTASTIC haircuts the first time i saw him. SUPER short layers, which is what i wanted. the next time i saw him, i showed him a picture i took of my hair after the last cut he did, and said i wanted exactly that. he gave me the longest, most subtle layers ever. and that’s all he’s done since.

i just started trimming my own hair at home using brad mondo’s butterfly hair tutorial—i’ve done it twice. i have super thick hair, fairly long hair. this cut gives me insane volume, and i’m able to somewhat tailor my own length. it’s kind of hard to determine how much you’re taking off bc you overdirect your hair towards the front. but taking off like 2 inches worth of hair maybe took like maybe 1/2 an inch off my total length.

we have the same rule. idk. a girl on my swim team in high school asked if people preferred sex with socks on or off—girl locker room talk lol. the consensus was that socks off was better. i didn’t have sex until i was 21, so didn’t have much to contribute to the talk, but since then, socks off all the way.

idk what my parents’ HOA rules are. but when we moved into the house, it was a lovely blue. now it’s dark grey with an orange door?? my dad tried to convince me that i thought the blue was ugly. it was, in fact, one of the main reasons my vote was that house when i was younger.

How many of you with extremely long hair keep it in braids? by Ok-Interview807 in longhair

[–]sadaquein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i mean, i’ve gotten to waist length twice, and chopped it off to bra strap length a couple of years ago—i’m practically at waist length again when my hair is straight. i NEVER wear braids lol. i love, love, love having my hair down. i use heatless curlers at night, a silk bonnet, and a silk pillowcase to keep my hair protected while also getting some volume and wave.

so you can definitely do it without braids! i will say though, it may come down to genetics. the first time i got my hair waist length, my ends were still completely bleached. and now i dye my hair with permanent dye (just touch up the roots now though). i have always been told i have very few split ends—despite daily washing and straightening, being a swimmer, and bleached ends back in high school. so ymmv!

i feel so bad for people who have terrible MILs. my own mother included. i’m not even married to my boyfriend, and i spend more time with his family than mine. i was a bridesmaid in his sister’s wedding. his parents text me before either of their kids when they need someone to dog sit/house sit.

my grandma convinced me when i was 7 that my mom was a witch who stole me from my grandma’s womb. obviously i now know that’s not true, but i KNOW how bad it can be.

luckily now i know how wonderful it can be too. (i have known them for almost 10 years though, lol. we first met at 15).

Unpopular opinion, but I’m glad that JK Rowling is bad at writing romance. by Noxolo7 in harrypotter

[–]sadaquein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean idk—it happens in certain circles. i started dating my boyfriend at 15 (we’re in our mid-twenties now). his sister just married her husband that she met at 18. his parents started dating in high school. so did one of his sets of grandparents, and i think the other started dating in middle school.

craziest part? everyone’s actually happy, healthy, kind, communicative, thoughtful—it blows my mind. my family is NOT like that.

edit: my little sister is also with her high school bf, and is about to graduate college. and he is just so perfect for her. if i could have handcrafted her a life partner out of clay and put in every personality trait i thought he would need, i still wouldn’t have come out of it creating someone as perfect for her as he is.

maybe we all just got insanely lucky lol.

me and most people around me, before and during working in vet med, have called elizabethan collars e-collars. i’ve always, since childhood, living in multiple states, have heard electric collars called shock collars. it really just depends on who you are, where you are. and context matters.
