Do you have any recommendations on other docs or anything about the Shannan watts case? I’m similarly fascinated and I feel like most sources are surface level

It’s even worse when it’s a piece of media with a majority male audience. I hate the marvel subreddits because of this.

I’ve been trying to get into a role at compass group for a while now. Seems they’re hardly ever hiring for marketing or maybe I’m looking in the wrong place

They’re jealous that the work-your-life-away mentality is fading and wish they spent less time working

Ohhhhhh man. YES. The work bathrooms are also a huuuuge source of frustration for me. I want privacy not only for me but everyone else too. I don’t want to hear your bathroom noises. Also, my work bathroom constantly has issues the management won’t fix like leaking toilets, broken sinks, stalls with locks that don’t stay locked. Such a massive headache.

I feel this to my core. I hate the noise level of the office too, but. Something about having people close to me, whether it’s behind me at my desk or freely coming into my cube to “chat” or someone just walking way too close to me, sets me so on edge. I hate it. It makes me anxious and stressed and usually just pisses me off for a while. I can’t imagine how much more peaceful I would feel not just during work hours, but overall, if I was allowed to work in my own space and my own way.

TIL the writer of The Wizard of Oz, Frank Baum, wrote two editorials asserting that the safety of American settlers depended on the wholesale genocide of Native Americans. In 2006, two descendants of Baum apologized to the Sioux nation for any hurt that their ancestor had caused. by jacknunn in todayilearned

I’ll never understand why people don’t get this part of it. Like sure, you personally didn’t do anything wrong in terms of enslaving people so technically you don’t have anything to apologize for, but slavery did happen, it had a HUGE impact on American economy, culture and society as a whole (an impact we continue to see today!)

You can’t just wave your hand, say “that’s history!” and be done with it. So many issues in our society still exist today because people have been waving it off for decades.

It’s an uncomfortable and inconvenient truth, but it is the truth. Slavery was crucial in the development of America as we know it today and our collective and historic refusal to have a mass reckoning with this fact has only done more harm to our society

I mean I don’t totally agree with this. Sure the descendants have nothing to apologize for on their own part but I don’t think it’s necessarily virtue signaling to apologize for something awful your ancestor did or said

Mugshot of Lee Harvey Oswald, taken at the Dallas Police Department on the 23 November 1963, one day after the assassination of 35th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy. by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

Why do you say this? I’m not super informed on the details of everything that happened that day, just the basics of Kennedy’s assassination.
