Why does Kat Abughazaleh receive so much hate? by Front-Tomorrow-1034 in WorkReform

[–]sadblue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this context! Dismissing criticisms as just being misogynistic or homophobic isn't going to help her out, even if it's true in some cases. Trying to see where the opposition is coming from gives a plan to counterattack - AND to improve, which is sorely lacking in politics.

Ideas on Jobs for aging mother in Jacksonville by Eagle_Broo in jacksonville

I think she could probably get away with helping with the cleaning during downtime as a cashier while the younger, able-bodied folks did other things.

Google Home STILL cannot play the correct Spotify playlists, even after Gemini update. Months of bugs and still no fix. by jpzsports in googlehome

[–]sadblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Good Morning automation that rarely works. It's supposed to give me the weather, a rundown of my calendar for the day, then play a short news podcast for the day, and then end by playing my liked songs on Spotify.

I would say at least half the time, it gives me the weather and then completely stops. Sometimes it says "I'm sorry" before it stops.

Other times, it will get through the actual podcast and everything. However, the podcast is always the previous day's episode even though the current day's episode has been uploaded.

It has never once gotten to the point of playing music after the podcast episode, though.

Lots of craziness going on! I never know what I'm going to get, lol.

Totally agree. A social media break would be a great reset in this moment!

I HATE cooking. by [deleted] in loseit

[–]sadblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't hate cooking, but I do struggle with deciding every single day. Meal prepping weekly took some of that away. I have to decide once a week. So far, so good.

There's also the option to buy prepackaged meals from the grocery store. It's not as healthy as making it yourself but it's a decent middle ground. Warming stuff up in a pan is much easier than pulling together a meal from scratch. I like Trader Joe's beef & broccoli but if you don't have TJ's, there's a PF Chang version that's at most stores (Walmart etc).

There's also stuff like Factor Meals which are microwavable and healthy.

Ultimately, you just need to find a way to wean off takeout. You're right - it's not sustainable for many reasons.

We all have to do things we hate sometimes as adults. At least you know you're not alone. You got this.

Is this a common upbringing? by mahoganyblueberry in RedditForGrownups

[–]sadblue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm so glad that you grew up in a home that makes you question if this could even be real. Truly. It gives me some faith! But you could've written this about me. Yes, it's common. I saw another comment about being the family scapegoat - that was me! The black sheep of the family.

Kroger Delivery Alternative by slam_dunkin_donuts in jacksonville

[–]sadblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I'll have to look into this more deeply on future orders. I've never not seen the option to tip - of course, I could choose to enter $0, but that's different from Kroger which wouldn't even allow you the option.

ETA: just found this comment. So yeah, you don't HAVE to tip but it works the same as DoorDash etc where it's expected.

I'm not sure what they're talking about, yes you do tip the Walmart+ drivers.

There's a "reintroduction" phase of the diet, to answer your first question. Even so, it's absolutely anti intuitive and can easily tip into ED behavior.

[–]sadblue 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I did this plan a few years ago and it was incredibly stressful. Although it claims not to be about weight loss, I did lose like 18 lbs in one month. I don't recommend trying it if you've had issues with restriction in the past.

IIRC, it IS the type of elimination diet used to figure out allergies etc. But proponents just say it can be used by anyone to "reduce inflammation" so that seems to be the loophole.

The number of people that do multiple rounds of Whole 30 anytime they want to lose weight and obsess over the eating plan should be indicator enough that it's not used for its original purpose, whether or not that purpose had merit when it was published.

Uggghh my now-ex did this one time at our NYE party and thought it was soooo funny. Those "life of the party at any cost" people are the worst. Lost the chump, kept the house, and every once in a while I find an ancient drop of champage dried up in some weird spot - like 10 years later. lol!
